Erikos nodded. "Yep. There's an island a few miles off the shore, where all the slave trades and merchants go back and forth. It's not a nice place, but it's good for business. And sometimes if people wash up they have money on them we can take," he said, finishing wrapping the wound before returning the spare bandages to his satchel
Daus nodded in understanding, frowning slightly when he heard that slave trading was still going on, though he decided to not spend too much thought on the question. "Thanks," he added, his tone a tad gentle as he tugged his shirt down more quickly than he intended.
"Of course, sir. It's non problem," Erikos said, getting to his feet again as he gave the other a small smile. "Would you like some food? Getting washed up on the shores is never fun, and you look like you need some food," he said, glancing across the other's figure for a moment. "N-No disrespect or anything," he added quickly
"It's alright. I get that a lot anyway…especially from my brother," Daus answered, chuckling lightly as he pushed himself up, deciding that he could possibly trust Erikos for a few days until the wound got better and he could make his way back through one of the underworld entries, hoping that there might be a few in Portugal.
"Well no offense but your brother is a complete ass," Erikos said with a small laugh before tensing up. "He can't…hear me right now, can he?" he asked slowly, suddenly worried he might have irritated some unknown god without really knowing it. "I would rather not get sent to the underworld too fast," he added with a nervous laugh
"Don't worry, he can't do much to you," Daus replied, chuckling lightly at the way he noticed Erikos tense up. "Me on the other hand…" He added, a faint smirk crossing his lips, somehow finding amusement in how the other was getting nervous around him. Most people took one look at his physique and decided that he wasn't a threat at all.
Erikos’ eyes widened, but he played off his nervousness with a lazy smirk. “You might be a god, but I don’t think one with a gaping hole in their side would be able to do too much to me,” he said with a small chuckle
"True," Daus replied, chuckling lightly as he followed after Erikos, keeping an arm wrapped around his side protectively. He continued to study the forest, wondering if there was anything that could tip off his memory. So far, nothing.
“So…would you like to come to my house? We have food and salves to fix your wound,” Erikos said, pointing at the wound in in Daus’ side. “I don’t know much about gods, but that could get infected on a human.”
"Only if I'm not too much trouble," Daus answered, though he honestly hoped the other man would let him come. The wound wouldn't kill him, but he didn't want to risk infecting his human form.
“Well, come on then,” Erikos said, slinging his fishing pole over his shoulder as he began to walk down the river bank. He began humming again, his fingers tapping absently against the fishing pole
Daus followed after Erikos hesitantly, a thousand thoughts of the other man possibly being a serial killer running through his head. He pushed the thoughts away and continued to walk, smiling faintly at how Erikos hummed.
(Well…serial killer isn’t too far off lmao)
Erikos led them down the river quite a ways, the ocean a mere spec behind them. They eventually came upon a rickety old cabin elevated near the trees, where the sounds of cooking could be heard
(Lmaoo)
Daus continued to walk alongside Erikos, slowing his steps after a few moments when he began to hear cooking. Were there more people? He forced the worry out of his mind and continued to walk forward, though his steps were visibly more tentative as he readjusted the grip on his waist.
“Papa, I’m home!” Erikis called before beginning to ascend the rickety stairs up to the porch.
“Erikos, good, lunch is almost ready!” came a man’s voice. Erikos started walking a little faster at that, nearly tripling over himself in his haste to get to the food
Daus chuckled a bit at how Erikos seemed to trip over himself as he began to follow after them slowly, a bit nervous to meet someone else. Talking to people had never been his forte in the past, and it was definitely wasn't now.
“Papa, we have a guest!” Erikos called, opening the rickety wooden door and holding it open for Daus. Inside was a tall, dark-skinned man, almost identical to Erikos other than his taller height and greying hair. He was cooking something in a large pot, while a tall, pale boy was roasting fish on a homemade spit next to him
Daus stepped inside after Erikos, nodding towards the other in thanks as he studied the new people inside. After a few moments, he forced himself to wave as he readjusted his grip on the bandages, noticing the similarities between Erikos and his father.
“A guest?” Erikos’ father asked, a look of suspicion making its way across his face. Erikos just grinned.
“He’s an infinite! One of the magic ones!” he exclaimed before turning to Daus. “Show them your horns,” he insisted excitedly
Daus glanced towards Erikos and back towards their father hesitantly as he let his dark horns shift back into place, part of them covered by his curls. He shifted a tad nervously as he adjusted his hold on his waist once again, hoping that Erikos' father wouldn't question him too much.
Erikos’ father stared at him for a long moment, eyes wide in a mix of surprise and happiness. “Well, would you look at that! A real life mythic,” he said with a chuckle before returning to his cooking. The pale boy stared at Daus a moment longer, icy eyes fixed on him before returning to the floor
"It's nice to meet you, sir," Daus answered, speaking up so his voice wasn't in its usual mumble as he decided to use politer words. His amber eyes shifted towards the paler boy, meeting their gaze for a few moments until the other looked down. Everything seemed quite normal, so he began to decide that Erikos wasn't going to be much of a threat.
“Please, it’s no trouble. We’re happy to help washups. ‘Ell, even young Vien here is one,” Erikos’ father chuckled, ruffling the pale boy’s hair before returning to his cooking. The boy looked a little disgruntled but said nothing, intent on not letting his cooking burn.
“Follow me,” Erikos said, flashing Daus a smile before leading him over to the large handmade dining table in the living room area
(Aye, it's Vien!)
Daus studied the pale boy for a few more short moments before he turned around, following after Erikos as he tried to return the same bright smile. Vien? Where had he heard that name before? Pushing the thought away, he made it to the dining table, intent on keeping himself from the odd, limping walk caused by the wrappings around his waist.
(Yep. Erikos and Vien are pretty much best friends all their lives, and lived together for a while)
“Sit down, I’ll get Vien to patch you up properly,” Erikos said before turning to Vien. The boy was already walking down the hall, rummaging quietly through the small closet. He pulled out an ornate wooden box before pulling up a chair and sitting next to Daus
Daus nodded and took a seat across from Vien, studying them a bit hesitantly as he moved his hand away from his side. It was hurting the new, wrapped burns on his hands anyway, though he couldn't seem to remember the exact reason for why he had gotten them in the first place. He shifted in his seat a bit nervously, the boy's icy gaze almost having an affect on him.
Vien glanced up at him before opening the box. He pulled out more bandages and a glass vial or something green. He set it to the side before grabbing some gauze. “Shirt up, p-please,” he mumbled, gesturing with his hand as he spoke
Daus complied and lifted his shirt up to reveal the bandages that Erikos had wrapped beforehand, glancing towards the green vial curiously. As Vien continued to take things out of the box, his fingers tapped against the chair in a semi-rhythmic pattern out of habit, watching each of the boys moves. Daus told himself to calm down a bit, but he had just met these two after all.
Vien went to work quickly, unwrapping the bandages already around Daus’ wound. He discarded them quickly, reaching for the vial and gauze. He dabbed a bit of the green liquid onto the gauze before pressing it to Daus’ side and securing it with fresh bandages. He nodded to Erikos before putting the box away and returning to the kitchen
"Thanks," Daus mumbled before Vien quickly walked out of the room as he turned to look towards Erikos in thanks. If it hadn't been for the other boy, then he would probably still be knocked out on the river's banks. After a few moments of silence, he looked down at his wet jeans and sweater before glancing back up at Erikos. "If it's not too much trouble, do you have some clothes that I could borrow? I don't want to get anything wet…" Daus mumbled, rubbing his arm as he waited for an answer.
