"They said tumor is gone. Not the cancer," he frowned and laid his head on her.

Lillian let out a sigh, "But isn't that enough? Can't the tumor and cancer just both disappear. Can't we magic them away sometime?"

Darren shook his head, "Have to wait, big appointment," The follow up appointment he had after the surgery would tell him if he was in remission or not.

"Week," He didn't want her to be sad or upset. He was pretty much done with that. He wanted to skip to the part where they could have joy again.

(I just got into it! It's about an autistic doctor who wants to be a surgeon and everyone is like "Umm NO!" and he is like "YAS")

Darren nodded, one week wasn't too bad but thinking about it made him nervous. When they left the bathroom there was a nurse standing and looking at a piece of paper on the heart machine.

She turned around, "Oh! You scared me." She looked at Darren who was being held up by Lillian, "Hey Mr. Anderson. I was checking your heart rate and not long ago you had a huge spike. Was everything okay?"

Darren shrugged, "Scared," he rasped.
The nurse laughed at his voice. "That must hurt honey, probably from the breathing machine. I can fix that if only you'll learn to ask for help,"
Darren recognized her as the nurse that did his chemo, the one who was sweet but he swore he hate.

Darren huffed in annoyance, "Please," he rolled his eyes dramatically.

The nurse left and came back with a cup full of red liquid, she handed to him happily.
Darren took it and swished it around in the cup and looked back at her.
"Go on, drink it. I haven't poisoned you yet and I stick needles in you often. If I wanted to I would have," She smiled and winked.
Darren winced at the needle comment and chugged the cup, "That's gross," he complained as he cleared his throught.

Darren shrugged.
The nurse quirked an eyebrow, "What do you say?" she asked sweetly.
"Thanks," Darren huffed.

The nurse chuckled, "You are welcome Darrey," She skipped out of the room as Darren groaned in annoyance.

Darren shot her a mean look, "No. I spend a lot of time with her for chemo. I don't want to talk about it," His voice was unusually deep, much more than normal, but most of the grumble and rasp had disappeared.

"I can talk," He laughed, "This is not my voice," He too noticed how deep it was.

Deleted user

"A man with a very deep voice," He started humming to experiment with it.

Darren chuckled, "Sexy huh?" he picked his head up on the bed.
