"Did you grow up any one place?" She asked him.

"Mainly at the orphanage. I stayed at my parent's house up until one. I hardly remember that, though."

"Wait aren't you like 5,000 years old? What year were you born?" She asked him, walking down to the water and digging her toes into the sand.

"I'm 6,000 and I was born before time started being recorded." He looked out into the beautiful clear ocean, which sparkled whimsically in the sunlight.

"Whoa i'm just a small bean compared to you." North said tightening her grip on his hand.

He grinned affectionately down at her. "I guess so. I've kinda lost track of time, though, so I could be much older than I think. I certainly don't look it, though." He gestured towards his body, which was lean and fit, though malnourished.

"Oh yeah." She laughed, "So sexy. Did you ever have anyone special?"

M laughed a sad laugh. "Yes. I did have a lover, his name was Pax. Though, I have always been in other smaller relationships before him. I still have our wedding ring." He stuck out his hand, showing a faded but handsome gray-blue ring on his right ring finger.

"It's beautiful M. Can I ask what happened?"

M sighed. "I did something stupid that endangered everyone. Pax was one of the only people who protested against me leaving but lost because no one can fight against the Gods of my old Universe." He looked up and out to the ocean. "I miss him. I miss everyone. But I'm probably going to stay here until further notice because I don't have any other choice."

"Sorry M, you'll meet someone someday." North said smiling sadly up at him.

He grinned. "Well, I don't really want anyone else after Pax. If I were to get out of here, I'd probably go seek out everyone else, and see if Pax is with them. He might be." He shrugged. "If not, then, that's the end of it. I'll probably just be there. Sure people won't look at me the same… but that's okay."

"Oh, well you have me, if that's enough." She said walking forward and standing in the shallow water.

He grinned happily. "Yeah, that's enough." He ambled after her gingerly.

She wrapped her arms around his middle, gently swirling her foot around in the clear water.

He hugged her back and set his chin on her head, the cool ocean waves lapping steadily over their feet, getting more intense; the tide was coming in.

North stood with M for a while, watching the red-orange sun set slowly.

After those few hours, M tightened his grip on her shoulder. "Let's go get some dinner, okay? We skimmed off lunch because we woke up late."

"Okay." North took his hand and they walked back to the house.

They arrived at the mansion and M opened the refrigerator. "What are you in the mood for?"

"You have whatever i'm not that hungry." She sat down and set her head in her hands.

M looked over his shoulder and limped over. He put a hand on his shoulder and kneeled down. "You feeling okay, North?" He asked in his husky voice, which was laced gently with concern.

"Of course, i'm just not hungry." She smiled slightly at him.

M grunted and sat down with a heavy sigh. "Alright, tell uncle M your complication."

She put her hands up defensively. "I swear there's nothing wrong with me."
