“I don’t mind, I mean, Leila and I have already met, kinda but netting her properly would be nice, along with all of them.”
(Okay, see you when I see you)

(Pops on for like five/ten minutes)
"Great." The doors opened, and Ryker stepped through them. "Here we are."
This area was actually much different. Instead of being sterile white, the walls were covered in beautiful, hand-painted murals. They depicted scenes of forests, oceans, mountains, and many other things. The detail was incredible–hundreds of animals were running, swimming, or flying across the walls, and there were even a few humans there as well. Not far off, the hall widened into a huge room lit by skylights and electric lamps. The sounds of voices and splashing water echoed around them.

"Like it?" Ryker smiled proudly. "My son Keith painted these murals. Art on this scale used to take people decades to complete, but Keith is a prodigy. He did all this work in a matter of months."
"Wow," Bernon said, stepping closer to the wall to examine a carefully painted bird. "That's amazing."
They entered the main room and paused in the doorway. This room seemed to be a sort of general living space, with a half-circle of couches in the center and various toys and games strewn across the dark tile floor. Several other hallways branched off in each direction. On their right, a sort of artificial waterfall fell into a clear pool set into the floor.
There were four children of various ages sitting on the couches, watching as a screen in front of them showed scenes of some fantasy adventure. They didn't look up or notice their visitors. A fifth boy, who was actually watching the moving pictures from inside the pool, did notice, however, and sat up excitedly.
"Hi Dad!" he called, making the others look around as well. "Who are those people?"
"Hello, Kaito," Ryker responded. "These are some guests from far away. Tanrial, Bernon, and Mike."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial rolled her eyes a little but smiled, “Hi there.” She said, giving a two fingered salute to the boy, Kaito. Strange place to watch a film, as they were called but she didn’t comment on it.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Ryker introduced the children one by one.
"This is Derek," he said, nodding at a red-haired eight-year old who was covered in messy drawings and was chewing on the end of a marker. "Don't put that in your mouth, please, Derek. Thank-you. This is Molly and her twin, Micah…" Two eleven-year-olds with dark hair in very different styles waved and grinned. "…And this is Keith, he painted the murals…." A bored-looking blond teenager with eyes that literally glowed orange nodded at them. "….and here's Kaito." Kaito had green hair and fish scales on his arms and legs. He beamed widely at them, revealing tiny triangular teeth.
"Hiiiii," they all chorused.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial raised an eyebrow but smiled when she noticed how different they all were, “Hello. It’s nice to meet you all.” She said, taking a minute to look at all the children individually for a moment.

"It's nice to meet you too," Derek lisped politely.
Keith looked at Mike shrewdly. "I remember you," he said in a soft Scottish accent. "You were here a few months ago."
Mike nodded. "Yep."
"Did you find the data drive?" Micah asked excitedly.
"He did," Ryker said. "These two helped him–"
At that moment his phone pinged. He glanced at and sighed.
"I'm sorry, I have to go for a moment. Kaito or Keith maybe, would you like to show our guests around for a bit? I was giving them a tour. "
"Eh," Keith said, but Kaito nodded eagerly. "Yeah! I'd love to!"

@ElderGod-Carrots

“I wish I was that enthusiastic when I was your age. How do you do it?” She asked, smiling, “If you want to give us the rest of the tour then sure, I don’t mind.”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Kaito led them down the first hallway, still leaving little wet footprints on the tile from his time in the pool. "Dad says I have a ton of energy. This is the way to the bedrooms, by the way. I think some of the others might be around here somewhere." He paused and glanced at her sidelong. "Aren't you gonna ask about my scales?"

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Kaito lifted his arms and admired them. "I have fish DNA! I was born with it. When I was just a tiny baby, they added the DNA and now I have scales and green hair pointy teeth–and even gills! I can breathe air and water!"
(Okay, I gotta go to bed now, seeya later)

@ElderGod-Carrots

“Cool, I wish I could breath underwater, it might come in handy for some things.” She looked at Mike, referring to the river incident on the way here.
(Okay, seeya later)

Never had an eye-roll been more dramatic. Bernon snorted.
"It comes in handy all the time," Kaito said, oblivious. "I love swimming. I can even swim in the natural tunnels that bring us our water, if they're big enough. It's real dark though, and I can't see in the dark like Keith."
"Still, that's pretty impressive," Bernon said. Then he innocently added. "Could a non-fish person like me, say, swim to the end of those tunnels and reach the surface?"
Kaito shook his head authoritatively. "Not without really good gear, and anyway, you're too big to fit in most of the tunnels. I'm the only one who could go all the way."
"And have you ever reached the surface yourself?" Mike asked.
"Well…..no. I'm not allowed to go that far," Kaito sighed. "Eric–he's our big brother–says that the tunnel's really crumbly and dangerous up there, and it might collapse on me."

@ElderGod-Carrots

“Yet you still do it anyway? If Eric has warned you then why do it? Surely there are others ways to get in and out of this place. Easier ways that you could go through without fear of the tunnels collapsing on you.” She said.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Oh, I don't go that far. I'm actually not allowed to use the tunnels at all without a radio. And yeah, there's stairs and elevators and stuff that lead outside, but I've never been that far. Dad says I'm not old enough." He made a face.

At that point the door nearest them opened and Leila came out. She stopped in surprise when she saw them.
"Leila!" Kaito cried happily. "It's those guests you were telling us about! Come say hi!"
"Hi," Leila said very quietly, a tiny smile on her face.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

She nodded, still not quite looking at them. "Sorry about…..earlier."
"It's fine," Bernon said cheerfully. "You couldn't have known we were harmless."
Leila glanced cautiously at Tanrial. "I….like your clothes. And your sword. Where are you from?"

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Cool," Kaito said. "What about you, uh…..Bernon?"
"I'm from Idaho, waaay Southwest of here," Bernon said. "I'm a wanderer, so I've been all over the place."
"I'm from….Colorado, I guess," Mike said. "But I'm a wanderer too, so that was a long time ago."
"Someday I'll be a wanderer," Kaito said dreamily. "It sounds awesome."
(gotta go to bed now, seeya later ^^)

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"And being a wanderer is fun, but it's not always awesome," Bernon added. "Sometimes you don't have a safe place to sleep at night, or enough food. And not everyone is friendly out there."
"I know!" Kaito said indignantly. "That's what I'm training for! The trainer who trained Dad's soldiers is teaching us how to fight and survive out there. He says I'm getting really good for a twelve-year-old!"
"I already go to the surface sometimes," Leila added softly. "But not outside Dad's property yet. Only a couple of the oldest ones like Eric and Jackie have gone that far."
