“What are you doing out here, Rvan?”
“What are you doing out here, Rvan?”
"I'm…" Rvan hesitated. Could he tell her? He shook himself off. Of course he could. He could trust her (FAE BONDS ARE ADORABLE, 'CEPT THIS IS A DRAMAN BOND <3), "I'm escaping. I can't live like… like that. Like a tool. I'm not made for that."
“Wait, you mean you ran away from the fire team?” Skylar’s eyes went wide. “Rvan, you have to go back before Draco reports your escape to the Council.”
Rvan felt his shadows almost start to panic at Skylar's concern. Rvan, slightly less confident now, took a breath, "The Council can't get me if I'm already gone. It doesn't matter what Draco does, it doesn't matter what the Council does. I'll find a way out of this (talking about society), no matter."
/I wanna grab your shoulders and shake, baby,
Snap out of it/
/Lady, running down to the riptide
Taken away to the dark side
I wanna be your left hand man
I love you when you're singing that song and
I got a lump in my throat 'cause
You're gonna sing the words wrong/

Skylar shook her head. “Rvan, I wish it was like that, but you can’t escape the Council. They have eyes and ears everywhere and they have genetically enhanced hunting dogs that will kill whatever draman they can get there fangs on.” Skylar shuddered and then looked Rvan directly in the eye. “I have seen it before, Rvan. You are not the only draman who has tried to escape them. The Council makes rebellious dramans disappear fast.”
“I would rather disappear fast,” Rvan countered, "Than slave for them. I would rather die fighting. I wasn't made that way. They won't ever be able to take the [bald eagle/captain Rogers/red white and blue/'merica/FFFFFRRRRRRREEEEEEEDDDDDDDOOOOOOOMMMMMM] from me.”
Skylar raised an eyebrow. “Where was all of this adamance yesterday?”
Rvan turned red and his demeanor seemed to get smaller and weak, "I don't know…" He mumbled (His shadows like to share his personality, btw and DRAMAN BOND), "I-I just can't…”
“Can’t what?” Skylar asked with genuine concern.
The shadows on the trees got larger, "I-I can't- I-I can't be turned into a-a- something that will just obey and go through the motions. Before my parents died, I didn’t have to fight dramans or obey the Council or train or- or- be used," Rvan's shadow enlarged. His shadows were scared of that (the stuff he just listed).
“Rvan, I get where your heart is at, but you can’t just run away like this. You haven’t even learned how defeat another draman and you don’t know how the the Council operates.” Skylar walked towards Rvan. The idea that had popped in her head was insane and could very well get her thrown in prison and stripped of her power. She leaned in and whispered into Rvan’s hear, with her cold icy breath,”I can help you, Rvan. I can tell you what I know about the Council and give you battling tips in the marketplace, but you will have to be patient because the only way to get away from the Council is to get past the border which is a weeks flight from here.”
Her voice so close to his ear sent chills down his spine. His shadows sang along with it, swirling like starlight around them. She was so close. He didn't know what was happening when he was opening his mouth and talking, "Come with me. I'll wait if you come with me," He whispered back.
Skylar took a step back and looked Rvan up and down. “Come with you?”
Rvan's shadows seemed to go into his eyes and sparkle (not literally, but the DRAMAN BOND tho) as he said is almost awe of the idea itself, "We can both be free."
Skylar had never once in her life dared to think of running away. Her life had always been mapped out either by her mother or by the Council. Running away had never been possible. Skylar tried to envision a life without the arena or Council or…her mother—oh gosh her mother! She couldn’t possibly leave her mother at a time with all of these scandals flying around. And what about her ice team? Could she live comfortably out of the Council’s reach knowing that her teammates were still trapped here?
“No.” Skylar said, shaking her head. She looked up at Rvan. “I can’t leave, Rvan. My team and my mother…I can’t abandon them here, not after all they have done for me.”
And just like that, the sparkle faded to a dull look, the starlight became the darkest shadows, and Rvan stepped farther back, "…okay…"
What she doing getting involved with this? Rvan was her opponent at the end of the day. She shouldn’t care if Rvan was hurt by the fact she couldn’t go with him…but those beautiful stars had faded from his eyes and it still broke Skylar’s heart to see him like this. “Look, Rvan, if I can find a way to get my team and my mother out of here, then I will come you with you, but…” Skylar sighed. “I don’t think I will ever be able to get away from the Council.”
“It's- It's…" The truth was Rvan didn't know what to think, "I- I just need to get out…" He mumbled. That's what he wanted- no, needed- to do.
“I know, Rvan, but you have to lay low for understand?” Skylar glanced at her watch. “I really have to go, you should to, Rvan. I know training stinks sometimes, but please go back.”
“W-What do I tell them?" Rvan asked as his hair fell in his face a little, "When I get back?"
“I don’t see the harm in telling them the truth, but if you don’t want to get in fight with anyone, I’d say that you needed some air and you will make sure it never happens again. Although, knowing you that will probably wind up being a lie.” Skylar smiled for a little bit, but her lips returned to a straight line when she still saw the darkness in Rvan’s eyes. ”Do you still want to meet up in the marketplace?” She asked softly. She wondered if he hated her now for choosing not to go with him.
"…M-Maybe," Rvan replied quietly, although he did want to talk to her more later. Instead, he morphed into his dragon form and flew into the sky towards where the fire protèges would be.
While Rvan was flying, he ran into Kyle and Thalia (who where both in dragon form). The minute Thalia saw Rvan, she dove towards him. “Rvan!” Thalia roared, “Thank Deviros you are okay! I promise I will make an effort to be much more kinder and considerate and—“ She flew back a little ways to give Rvan more space. “And,” she said a little more softly, “If yo are still mad at me for behaving that way I understand completely.”
Rvan flapped backwards. He wanted to tell Thalia nothing was her fault, but he had never talked in his dragon form before. He opened his mouth, "I- uh-“ It was deep and somewhat gravely, so it startled him a bit before he lied, "No, you're fine. I-I'm sorry. I was going to get out on the air this morning and I lost track of time."

From there, Rvan and the other protégés headed back the training grounds. Draco was so relieved to see Rvan return with the others. When the other protégés had wandered off, Draco and Rvan were alert behind. Draco turned to Rvan and his expression turned serious. “Rvan, I know you are new to all of this, but you can not leave for entire day without notifying me. I understand that training each day and being cooped up here can feel like torture some times, but cannot skip training like that, understand? The Council has been sending representatives that are insistent—to say the least—that I send them samples of your blood and skin. I don’t ever want it to come to that Rvan, but if you step out of line the Council won’t ask me nicely for parts of you. They will take you to their underground labs before I can do as just as light a match.”
Rvan deadpanned, "I'm fully aware of what the Council can do and I very well know my limits." Rvan left him at that, done with politics. Done with it all. And he -no, his shadows- were very confident in his ability to hide.
