"Are you sure? You seem a bit, what's the word, confused."
"No, it's just I'm trying to figure things out," I hate you… I love you… Like a brother… I'm kissing you… sigh
"Uh, yeah, I guess. Most of the kids…" She choked on the words.
"Most of the kids…..?" He gestured for her to continue.
Ginger cringed. "Most of the kids thought that she faked it just to stay home and make out with you. Their stupid rumors, not mine!" She added the last part quickly.
Darren shook his head, "I don't understand… What kids?" I mean she did stay home….
"The popular jerks," Ginger answered, then widened her eyes. She covered her mouth and looked around quickly, genuinely afraid that they could somehow hear her insult.
"At school?" Darren seemed more lost. He didn't at all take offense to being called a jerk.
(Hahahaha I love making my characters confusing as all hell. It's sooooo much fun.)
She sighed. "I know, I know. It seems every time I see you I have a different opinion. But I know this for sure now. I love you. I was just too blind to see it."
Cooper nodded, a tear rolled down his cheeks at the words. Was this real? Maybe he had dreamed it like he had hundreds of times before and he'd wake up alone. Nonetheless something felt different so he hugged her close to himself, "I love you so much,"
She squeezed him tightly. "I love you too. I really do."
"At school?" Darren seemed more lost. He didn't at all take offense to being called a jerk.
"Yes," Ginger squeaked. She tremored with fear, but not of Darren.

"Oh," He noticed her tense position and shaky physique, "Are you okay?"
She squeezed him tightly. "I love you too. I really do."
A smile filled Coop's face, his depression and need to forget was gone, his pain dissipated. "I'll never hurt you again, I promise," That was a bold promise. I don't care.
"At school?" Darren seemed more lost. He didn't at all take offense to being called a jerk.
"Yes," Ginger squeaked. She tremored with fear, but not of Darren.
"Oh," He noticed her tense position and shaky physique, "Are you okay?"
"Fine. Just… jumpy. I'm… I can get really jumpy. Sometimes."
"Thank you. I never thought you'd forgive me after leaving."
"Thank you. I never thought you'd forgive me after leaving."
"You were all that mattered to me, nothing changed. You had the right to leave, what I did, it was……. I'm sorry,"
"Fine. Just… jumpy. I'm… I can get really jumpy. Sometimes."
"Okay, do you need anything?"
"Don't apologize. It's in the past. We're not here to regret past mistakes. We're here to make a new future. Together."
"Something new," He smiled, "Together,"
She smiled. She felt whole again. Completed. He picked up the broken pieces to her heart and glued them back together.
Cooper stood up and looked at her, nothing but pure joy on his face, "I have something I need to tell you,"
She stood, scrubbing the remaining tears off her face. "Yes? What is it?"
"Do you know what a truss is?" He sighed hoping this didn't make things complicated.
"Well, yeah, of course I do. Nami talks about them all the time. Why?"
Coop rubbed the back of his neck nervously, "I sort of umm, I formed one with you,"
"Fine. Just… jumpy. I'm… I can get really jumpy. Sometimes."
"Okay, do you need anything?"
"No, I-" Her phone buzzed with a notification. She clicked on it rapidly and tapped the screen quickly. She hit several more options and slid her phone away. She reopened her mouth, but again her phone vibrated. She looked at the message and get eyes grew wide. "Uh, I-I-I'm fine. I have to get home." Not good not good not good…
She looked shocked. "You gave up falling in love with anyone else, you gave up happiness with anyone else, for me? I-I don't know what to say." She actually looked rather happy. Flattered. He gave up a future with anyone else for her.
"Okay," Darren handed her a piece of paper, "If you need anything, that's my number,"

Cooper nodded, "I love you, you mean everything to me. I was kind of suicidal for a few days after the whole 'I love you like a brother' thing. I was actually going to have Darren wipe my memory so I didn't remember you to escape the pain."
"Oh, thanks." Ginger smiled, her shaking hand slid the paper into her pocket. "Well, are you coming to school tomorrow?"
"I'm not sure," Darren said honestly, "Cancer has it's days but I assume I'll be there,"
(We should really flip back to Ryan. See what he's up to. Have him realize that she'd probably go to Darren's to talk and that Cooper would be there and shiz. You know, all that good stuff.)
She looked down at her feet. "I'm sorry about that. Again, I was blind to what I really needed. Please forgive me." She was sad and quiet. Now she felt bad.
