(That sounds good. Should Kalei find Dennis somewhere?)
(That sounds good. Should Kalei find Dennis somewhere?)
(….So do you want me to start?)
(Sounds good to me. Or she could be drowning or smthn. Or maybe he gets caught in one of those net things)
(Yeah, which do you prefer? Kalei can be drowning or she can find him caught in a net.)
(Idk I think drowning would be more interesting, especially since that's her worst fear isn't it?)
Tara sighed as they stopped at Emerald's tank again. "So, did you like the tour?"

(Yeah, that is. I think that would be interesting too.)
(What was our plan again for her drowning?)
Abby got a bottle and leaned over to feed Emerald.
(Uh, shark or octopus trying to drag her down into the depths and almost succeeding in killing her?)
(That could work. Let's do it.)
(Noice go ahead then)
Kalei made her way to a more reserved section of the marine institute, fiddling with her suit as she began to step into the cold water, watching the faint waves lap against her legs. After a few moments, she made it all the way in, shivering at the low temperature of the ocean as she began to swim out, looking for any animals that may have gotten stuck in nets.
(Octopi are deep sea creatures… guess it'll be shark then. I'll try not to hurt her too bad)
Suddenly, a small shark came up behind Kalei and latched onto her leg, dragging her down. The smell of her blood seemed to just make it stronger, and though it was small, it continued dragging her without too much difficulty.
Kalei let out a surprised yelp, feeling something sharp dig into her leg before she plunged underwater, barely having enough of time to take in a breath of air. She began to be pulled down into the ocean's depths quickly as she attempted to look down and identify what it was as she struggled to hold her breath for so long.
Dennis could hear someone struggling from the cave he was in and looked out to see a human dragged by a shark. The girl was losing oxygen quickly, and Dennis hurriedly shooed the shark away. He grabbed onto the girl's arm and swam to the surface, finding a shore to lay her on. "Hello? Hello?" He shook her gently. "Are you alright? Are you awake?"
Kalei laid down on the shore a bit limply, struggling for a breath as she coughed out a bit of water, opening her deep-set blue eyes in an attempt to focus on the boy in front of her. "What…what happened?" She asked, her voice coming out as a mumble and a bit hoarse from the salt water. She felt her leg sting and reached down slowly, feeling something warm pour over her fingers.
"Shark got you… mischievous little things, aren't they? But you are alive, correct?" Part of Dennis's tail was still in the water, but most of it was visible. He had forgotten his own wounds and fear of humans for the timebeing, seemingly worried about Kalei.
"I think I'm alive…hopefully. Unless I suddenly die in a few moments, though that would be quite a tragedy," Kalei mumbled, trying for a small joke as she propped herself up on her elbows, glancing towards Dennis's tail before looking back to meet his gaze. She attempted to move her leg, but for now, it felt a bit numb. "Are you alive too?" Kalei asked, shifting in her spot as she studied the merman's sea green eyes for a few moments.
"Yes, of course. I had a shark encounter myself, but it was purposeful. Anyhow, your… leg seems to be in a bad way." He seemed to forget the word for it in the moment. His hair somehow still managed to have volume and be rather fluffy despite having been in the ocean. It seemed to be water resistant or something of the like.
"I'm sure it's just a small cut," Kalei answered, feeling a bit dizzy as she laid back against the sand, rubbing her eyes in order to keep them open. She felt too drowsy to ask about Dennis's tail as well, her mind deciding that mermen were daily, normal occurrences for humans.
"Er, not exactly…" Dennis examined the wounds. "They're deep, but not bad. I don't think it'll be infected, but you should do whatever people do to prevent that just in case." He got some seaweed and wrapped it tightly around Kalei's leg. "That should stop the bleeding for now."
(can i join?)
Astra was walking around, looking for Kalei when she saw some traces of blood in the water and Kalei laying on the sand with a boy wrapping seaweed around her leg. "Oh my gosh Kalei are you ok?!" Astra exclaimed as she took a medic bag and ran down to them.
(can i join?)
(Sure!)
Tara sighed as they stopped at Emerald's tank again. "So, did you like the tour?"
Abby got a bottle and leaned over to feed Emerald.
Darren nodded, “Yeah this place is better. Than I thought it would be,”
Tara nodded. "Okay, cool! What would you like to do now?"
Abby pulled back just as Emerald was about to suck her milk. "Sorry, girl!" Abby apologized, but she looked at Darren warmly. "Do you want to try feeding Em?"

"Th…thanks," Kalei mumbled, rubbing her eyes to stay awake as she tried a half smile for Dennis. She pushed herself up slightly at Astra's voice, the movement triggering a brief pang of pain in her leg, though she ignored it. "This lovely person helped me…I'm just grand." She sighed, laughing softly which hinted at how she was a bit delirious.

Darren’s eyes widened,”Uhh Yeah! Sure!”
