@ElderGod-Carrots

She sprinted harder across the dock and jumped as far as she could, landing in the river with a loud splosh. Why do I listen to you? She said to Mike, trying to keep floating and not drowning them both.

"Because right now there's no better option?" Mike suggested, ducking low to make himself a smaller target. The current was very strong beneath the surface, and in seconds they were several yards out of shooting range. Johnny almost dove in after them, but the other men held him back and he resorted to screaming horrible threats and obscenities at them as they were swept away.
Okay, Bernon grunted, trying to stay close to Tanrial. Mike, why did he want to kill you?
Mike was silent for a minute. "I met his son up North last fall. He challenged me to a fight. I said no. He attacked me anyway. I beat him. He didn't take it well and tried to kill me. I killed him." He didn't look proud or ashamed as he said it, but his thoughts were muted and closed off as if he didn't want to dwell on it. "I guess his dad must have seen my face before I left."
(I have to go to bed now, seeya later ^^)

@ElderGod-Carrots

Well, it was his sons fault for attaching you in the first place otherwise he wouldn’t be dead. Stupid decision really… Tanrial looked back at a few times to make sure they weren’t following, luckily they weren’t stupid enough to jump in.
(Okay, seeya later)

(shoot I slept in)
Bernon looked like he had a very different opinion of the whole situation, but didn't speak up.
The river carried them almost a half mile before Mike said that they'd better head for the opposite shore. "We don't want to get too far off course. As it is we probably won't reach New York State today."

@ElderGod-Carrots

(Aha, sleep is more important Lord my sis has friends over I am going to get no sleep)
Tanrial swam to the shore a d climbed out letting Mike get off before traveling a short distance and shaking out the water before shifting back, soaked from head to toe, “I am never swimming in the form again…” She complained ringing out her hair.

(pats shoulder comfortingly)
Bernon shifted back as well and sadly examined his soaked backpack. "If we don't stop soon and dry this out, the food will spoil. Not to mention…." He suddenly yelped and started digging through his things. "Oh no, the machine! Tanrial, you have the real one, is it okay? I don't think you're supposed to get them wet!"

@ElderGod-Carrots

(AC/DC, Queen and Guns ‘n’ Roses will get me though…)
Tanrial quickly rummaged through the bag trying to find the machine, finding it a little wet but all together, not too damaged by the water, “I think it might be okay, just needs to sit in the sun for a while…I’m not sure but it will still work…”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Bernon fretted. "I hope we didn't ruin it…"
"No way of knowing." Mike took off his jacket and spread it out over a branch, then started making a small fire. "We'll be fine here for a while. Let's dry out as much as we can and have some breakfast. That meat won't spoil if we eat it first."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial nodded and placed the machine on the ground, trying to dry it and herself off as much as possible. She flipped her hair over and tied it up with a rubber band she found in the bag, “Do you think Johnny will find us?” She asked.

Mike shook his head. "I doubt it. He's in the middle of a job right now, and unless he wants to lose that money he'll see it through first. We'll be long gone by then. Besides, this area is part of a different clan's territory. He won't be able to enter it unless that clan lets him."
Bernon groaned. "Not another Southern Clan. Who are these guys?"
"The River Runners. Don't worry, the edge of their turf is only a couple miles east of here. We won't run into anyone this early and this far from their base."

@ElderGod-Carrots

“Alright, as long as we are safe for now.” She said, flipping back over and taking a seat by the fire, drawing small pictures into the ground with a stick.

Mike went to the sandy bank and started laying everything out in the sun. Bernon sat down next to Tanrial with a sigh and offered her dome of the dried meat. "How are you doing? I felt a bullet go by me ear when we dove in back there. Did you get hit anywhere?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

She shook her head as she took the meat, “No, not that I know of.” She looked down and quickly examined herself, “Nope, can’t see anything.” She ate the meat and stared at the fire before shaking her head to snap out of the trance.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Tanrial did as Bernon said and shuffled a bit closer to the fire, enjoying the heat that came from it, “I’m not going swimming for a while…” She said.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Ergh. You can't win." Bernon laughed too. Then his smile faded and he glanced at the distant silhouette of Mike, crouched at the water's edge. "Tanrial….I'm worried about that guy. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a good idea to travel with him like this. What if….what if he turns on us or something?"

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Yeah…" Bernon still looked uncomfortable. "If he starts….I don't know, acting weird, we should forget about this mission and make a break for it. Delivering a hunk of machinery isn't as important as staying alive." He turned back to the fire. "Anyway. Want some more of this venison?"

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Mike came to join them just then, carrying his socks and boots in one hand. "All clear along the bank. There's no sign that anyone's been out here for at least a week. Let's not forget to really clear away all traces of our camp when we leave, though. No point risking the attention."
(Gotta go, may not be back on tonight :< )

@ElderGod-Carrots

“Gotcha. You know, next time you say jump in the river I am not going to listen to you as that was the worst idea you have had in this tip so far.” She lent back on her hands so she could see him better.
(Alright, seeya soon)

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Mike rolled his eyes. "What were we supposed to do? Build a boat? We had to get across the river at some point anyway, and the only bridge is heavily tolled and far out of our way. I'd rather get a dunking than get torn apart by a bunch of angry rednecks, personally."
Bernon was going to speak up, then decided he had no opinion on this subject and went to check if his things were dry, leaving the two of them alone.

@ElderGod-Carrots

"Me too, but you're not the one who has to shift and carry someone else down a river while being shot at by a much of mercenaries who want revenge." She said, slightly annoyed.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Okay, yeah, I'll bet that was a little unpleasant for you. I acknowledge that this morning's upset was mostly my fault because of trouble I caused with those guys a while ago. So sorry about that. But I was hoping they wouldn't remember me, and it almost worked. I know we've already talked about this, but death doesn't mess around out here. We'll have to make some sacrifices if we want to stay alive."

@ElderGod-Carrots

"You bet it was unpleasant. It wasn't mostly your fault it was completely your fault, but what would have happened if they had remembered you last night? With the amount of people there we probably would have died. I know we have to make sacrifices, I know that just as well as the next person out here so let's start with not going into camps of people you have already pissed off."

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"And how is that suddenly my fault too?" Mike growled. He was going to say more but just then Bernon came hurrying back over to them.
"Hey, guys?" he said. "I think the river's rising. I had to rescue our stuff and I think this spot will be underwater soon…" he paused, looking back and forth between them and noticing their angry expressions for the first time. "…Everything okay over here?"
