(If Darren was female would he be Delilah? I’m sorry)

“We don’t know anything about the guys in the van. My arms pretty fucked up. And everything could’ve, should’ve gone so much worse.”

"I'm sorry," He sighed and shook his head, "I still don't understand what you're insinuating," He couldn't tell if this actually didn't make sense or of the tumor was messing with his cognitive abilities.

Lillian sat up in a hunched over position, "I'm saying a head on collision between a stopped or stopping car and a van going at full speed should have more consequences than an injured arm."

Darren's face was strewed into confusion and deep thought he felt bad for saying he still didn't understand so he clamped his mouth shut and just went with it, confusion never escaped his expression.

@ShadeStar

Lillian let out a sigh as she pulled her knees to her chest and her head sunk into the ball, "It's nothing. Just forget about okay?"

Anger, he didn't want to be angry… He was tired of being confused or angry or incompetent and that frustration only fueled the anger further, "Fine." the single word held a quiet power and carried a small amount of his emotion.

@ShadeStar

Lillian trembled slightly at the word. Was he mad at her? It felt like he had so much more emotion behind that word. She curled up further hoping that he wouldn't hurt her. That's what a guy or girl does to their significant other when they're angry right?

Darren placed a hand gently on the back of her shoulder, it wasn't Lillian he was mad at, it was himself and she needed to know that. He wanted to say something but didn't know what or if he should… An 'I'm sorry' seemed worn and out of place for the situation and asking further about what she meant would only further irritate him or her, maybe both… He decided to just be there for her, that was enough right?

@ShadeStar

Lillian's body relaxed slightly. He wasn't mad at her, thank God. She wanted to hug him. Would that be okay? She wasn't so sure anymore. Her mind was filled with uncertainties. Lillian didn't like that.

Too many emotions coursed through Darren's mind, it was an ambivalent, overwhelming feeling that made him want to cry. He pulled Lillian into him with a half hug. If there was anything that could help it was her, he just hoped she didn't mind.

@ShadeStar

Lillian hugged him tightly back. She tried to hold back her tears and not show any emotion. She failed however as the first tears slipped down and a sob left her mouth.

Darren held onto her tighter still at a loss for words… He was tired of saying everything would be okay because Lillian had a point… Would it? Would he die tomorrow or years from now? Would the people in the van come back? Would more shit happen to them and make life harder and harder? He knew what he knew: He was tired of crying. He was tired of losing. He was tired of people he cared about getting hurt and mostly… He was just tired. But he wasn't alone, he was a half of a team, a half of a whole who was always there and that seemed to make things better. He kept his mouth shut and a tear slipped down his cheek despite how strong he said he would remain.

@ShadeStar

Lillian wanted to just fall apart. There were so many uncertainties in her future, and it was scary. With her mother, while it pains Lil to admit it, things were simpler. Come home, get beat, lick her wounds, and go to school. Rinse and repeat. With Darren, life was crazy. She never knew what tomorrow would bring. While sometimes it was a good thing, it was also scary. Somedays she was worried just getting out of bed. But this life was so much better than her old one. Lillian knew that she had a partner. Someone who would be there no matter what happened. Who wouldn't get mad no matter how badly she fucked up. Her other half, sometimes her better half. She was just glad he was there for her right now as her body racked itself with sobs.

Darren found the thing… The thing he was certain of, not that it would all be okay but just that, "We're going to get through this," He rested his head on hers, "Someday we'll get away from this like I promised," He sighed and held on to the thought that they could leave anytime they wanted to.

(Okay! I got my idea… Hopefully it doesn't suck)

@ShadeStar

Lillian smiled slightly as her hands clenched onto his shirt. She let out a small sigh, "Yeah. We're going to get through this and leave this all behind……………. Right?"

Deleted user

"Right," He said with no hesitation, his voice clear and sure. "We're okay right now… Not great but we're fine. Alive with nothing to worry about in this moment," Darren had been forcing himself to live in the moment for awhile, he needed to stop worrying about the future and just focus on the moment he was living.

@ShadeStar

Lillian chuckled slightly, "We're definitely not great, but we don't have anything really to worry about? What about fucking aunt Linda?"

Deleted user

“She just misses her sister and we remind her our mom, she really is harmless,” Darren chuckled.

His hand moved to wipe a stray tear before he leaned in and pecked her lips, “I really love you,”

“That hurts a little bit I’ll be okay. Probably,” he put a hand over his heart dramatically.
