Reese beamed. She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. Her eyes sparkled, then the fire fizzled out. "I have to get going home," she said sadly. She bit back her disappointment and spoke in a cheery tone, "Nice to meet you, Lillian. I'm very glad that we had a chance to talk."

Nathaniel came into the room, yawning and walking over to Lillian. His bent wings were visible as he held up his arms to be picked up.
(Fun fact: Nathaniel basically doesn't walk. He just gets carried everywhere lmao)

Reese stood up and headed for the door. She opened it and walked outside. Home. It wasn't the same anymore. Reese took out her phone to text her mom when something wet and sticky covered her mouth. Her eyes widened, then her body went slack into the arms of a black-clothed figure. A second figure drove a van and pulled over so that the first person could lift Reese into the stomach of the van. A third figure appeared and threw a rock in the living room window, which promptly shattered. All three kidnappers climbed into the truck and drove away quickly.
