"Yeah…" Brooke trailed off, looking in the direction their friends had gone. "You know what?" she started after a moment. "I think I'd rather just leave. The party's almost over, anyway."
"Yeah…" Brooke trailed off, looking in the direction their friends had gone. "You know what?" she started after a moment. "I think I'd rather just leave. The party's almost over, anyway."
"…Do you want me to take you home?"
Brooke shrugged. "It doesn't matter much to me. If you want to, sure; if not, I'll stay."
Jacob shook his head. "I don't want to stay. My sisters are expecting me soon…"
"All right. Well, then, let's go," Brooke said with a smile.
He led her to the door, managing a quick wave in Jessie's direction before heading out. Definitely didn't expect it to end like this.
Brooke smiled at everyone they passed as she and Jake left the party. She said a quick goodbye and thank you to the host and hostess before walking out the door.
As soon as they were out of the house, he chuckled. "This was unexpected."
"Completely," Brooke agreed, her voice tinted with a hint of laughter. "I went in expecting to have a good time with old friends, and I came out with a boyfriend."
He smirked, "But that's perfectly okay, isn't it?"
Jake blinked as a thought came to him. "Oh gosh. If my sisters find out, you're going to be interrogated like there's no tomorrow. Mellie is going to be so giddy; you know she adores you."
Brooke laughed softly. "Of course it's okay! It's better than okay. And as for your sisters, I'm sure I'll be fine. I bet Mellie will be almost as excited as Jessie was!"
He let out a groan. "Mellie will be worse than Jessie. Don't underestimate her."
"Well, I'm sure I'll be fine," Brooke repeated, still smiling. "I think I can handle your sisters, excited or wary as they may be."
"The question is whether I can handle them," Jake joked.
Brooke laughed again. "Aw, does Jakey need protection from his sisters? Don't worry, I'll protect you!" she teased, talking as if speaking to a small child.
He pouted. "Stop it. You know how keyed-up they can be."
"All right, fine. I'll stop," Brooke said, though her eyes still shone with a teasing glint.
Jacob let go of her hand, still keeping up the upset facade.
"Aw… Now my hand is cold," Brooke complained, sticking out her lower lip. She reached to take his hand again. "C'mon, you know I was just teasing you!"
He looked off to the side. "I'll warm your hand with mine when you say sorry."
"Okay, okay, fine. I'm sorry for teasing you," Brooke apologized, still reaching for his hand.
(He's such a DORK)
Jake grasped her hand and grinned. "Much better." He swung their hands, giggling at how high they were going.
(Brooke and I both agree!)
Brooke laughed. "You're such a dork! I love it."
(Lol. I love my awkward child.)
"Well someone has to be in this relationship. I decided to make a sacrifice and fill in the role." he reasoned.
Brooke smiled and reached up to press a quick kiss to his cheek. She let go of his hand, bouncing on her toes. "I'll race you the rest of the way to your car!"
"You're on!" he pounded his fist in his other hand. Just because she was his girlfriend now didn't mean he was going to give her any head start.
"Okay, ready? Three…two…one… GO!" Brooke shouted. On "go", she ran as fast as she could to Jacob's car, laughing the whole way.
He took off, keeping his eyes on the car. He needed to win. No humiliation this time.
Brooke breathed heavily, slowing down. Why had she suggested running? That was a horrible decision. She glanced to her side, grimacing slightly as Jake started to pass her. There was no way she was going to win this without cheating, and she wasn't about to do that.
He grinned as he noticed her slowing down out of the corner of his eye. He finally reached his car and screeched in victory. "I have surpassed the great Brooke!"
