He turned to look in her eye. āIām sorry,ā
He turned to look in her eye. āIām sorry,ā
She gave a small soft smile. "Don't be sorry, you have no reason to be."
āDid you hear about Paige?ā He realized he hadnāt told her himself and desperately needed a subject change.
"No? What happened?"
Ryan Bit his lip, he had known for a day and said nothing⦠sheād be pissed. āShe, uhhh,ā he tear fell from his eye but he did t notice it. He couldnāt finish.
"Sheā¦" She gestured for him to go on. She couldn't have. It's a definite possibility.
He noticed the next tear as he sputtered out, āDied,ā he felt like his head was spinning. He hadnāt had to say it out loud until now.
Her eyes shot open. "What?? How long have you known this?" The guilt was already starting to eat her alive.
His shoulders began to shake as he held in his tears. āYesterday,ā
She didn't look upset or mad, she looked hurt. "And why didn't you tell me until now?" The guilt waves were threatening to topple and destroy her tiny island of peace she had managed to build.
He didnāt respond he just broke. Full on ugly crying, he didnāt want to fight he just wanted some one to him it would be okay.
She pulled him into her arms. We will talk about this later when he isn't having a meltdown. Absolutely. "Shhhh, it's okay, everything's going to be alright." She gently whispered.
He latched on to her, she was his anchor. He sobbed into her hard. It felt like losing his sister all over again.
She just sat there, her voice a calm and gentle whisper to pull him through this. Shouldn't he be helping you through your pain? You're in a lot more of it than he is. This isn't about me. Besides, I can handle it by myself. Famous last wordsā¦
He hiccuped, "I should have told you, I just didn't know how⦠I'm sorry,"
She just held him tighter. "Shh, this isn't about me. Right now, it's about you."
He was shaking not only from the sobs but physically shaking. This was too familiar to him, he just wanted to run.
She stayed quiet, letting him work this all out. Something's not right⦠I agreeā¦
He had stopped crying and started the stage where he sniffed and hiccuped while he gasped for air. He didn't move from her embrace, he still needed her and the shaking hadn't stopped, it felt like he was shivering.
She gently massaged his shoulders, humming a small relaxing tune.
Run! His instincts chanted at him and his body wanted to obey. "I shouldn't be this upset, I didn't know her that well,"
"Well she was still a friend that died. Being upset it normal."
"She wasn't really my friend, I wish she was but I can't claim that," He tucked his head in her neck, still shaking.
"I can't really claim that either. But she was one of the group, even if we didn't know her that well. It's okay to be sad."
(Hello.)
(Hey Shade!)
He nodded, having reassurance that it wasn't that irrational was good. He took a deep breath and buried his head deeper in her neck.
(Heylo)
She closed her eye, resting her cheek on his shoulder. She was tired and needed a nap but she didn't want to just fall asleep with him in this state.
(Hey guys!)
