"Truly a mystery," He said, taking a sip, looking at Chloe from over the glass.

Chloe smirked and went back to reading and soon got up to go cook dinner. "What do you want to eat tonight?"

"Something edible, what you thinking?" Xanthus said, not looking up from his laptop.

"I'm thinking cauliflower pizza" she replied, "Or potebello mushroom burgers, since we just got that new grill"

"I said edible," He said, clearly not thrilled with the options, "But the burgers do sound more like human food."

"Everything is human food" she replied, re-filling her cup

"I'd like to see you go out and eat plastic or the sun." He said, getting up and walking to the kitchen with his glass in hand.

"Shut up" she replied sheepishly. He appeared close behind her, his breath hitting her neck and she blushed

"Or what?" He said, smirking, not moving an inch, "You'll force me to eat cauliflower pizza? That is a fate worse than death."

"Exactly"she replied, her face becoming hotter

Xanthus raised an eyebrow, "Sure," and he paused for a moment. Only now noticing how close they were, he could feel the heat from her body. His face grew hot and he glanced at her lips for a moment before returning his stare to her eyes.

"Well, I-I need to make it if you want to eat…" she studdered, watching his gaze slip from her eyes to her lips and back up again

He blinked a few times, seeming to wake up from a trance before stepping back, "Of course, do you want any help with it?"

"S-sure" she replied, blushing harder

"Okay, so what are we making burgers? Or do you want to make something else?" He says, talking fast, face still red.

"Burgers. I'll grab the portebello mushrooms and the stuff to make the patty" she studdered, she face brightening to a hotter pink

"Okay, what do you want me to do?" He said, rolling his sleeves up, praying to anyone that his face would stop burning.

"Make some salad. I bought some garden salad earlier this week" she replied, his arm grazing her side as he rolled up his sleeves, 'Why is my face to hot?'

"That I can do," He said, chuckling in an attempt to ease the awkward atmosphere. He turns from her to get the ingredients from the fridge. Gosh this is awkward. Should I say something or just let it go?

'Wish he said something… or warned me…' she thought, grabbing everything from the fridge heading out to the grill

You know what, maybe if I pretend it didn't happen then boom it just never happened.He knew that wasn't how it worked but he wasn't good at confrontation and it seemed like the best solution to him. He looked at the ingredients and sighed, tugging a hand through his hair he took out his phone and looked up 'How to make a salad'.

She soon finished the pattys and brought them in on toasted buns, "Ready, salad?"

"Yes," he said confidently, presenting a bowl of green mush with a full sized tomato plopped on top, "I'm actually very proud."

"Good job" she replied. She prepared the meal and brought it to the couch, "Here you are" she said, placing the plate on his lap

"Thank you very much," He said grabbing the remote, and turning on Netflix, "What do you want to watch?"

"Greys Anatomy" she replied almost immediatly

He rolled his eyes, "As always," he clicked on said show and it began playing. He took a bite out of the burger, "This is really good."
