Carter started to run away, but stopped in his tracks. He turned back tearful. "Why?"

"lots of reasons. mainly because thats where i grew up, i was forced into it when i was young, and if i try to get out of it now his royal pain will do worse to me than he does now"

Another simple question slipped his tongue. "How?"

"How meaning what exactly?" she said, a little confused

"How do you-uh- handle it all?" He quickly wiped a tear away with his sleeve.

"Practice i guess. im just used to it." she paused. "are you alright?"

"Yeah, just-" he choked a little. "He took all I had from me, I guess."

(I had to go to bed, lol)
“And you are too,” She said, smiling.

"Wh- what did he take?" she hesitated, unsure if she knew about this one or not.

Eira couldn’t help but embrace the girl in front of her. Just finding someone like her made her so happy, “I’m Eira.”

"Rose," She said, trying to contain her joy. "So… what can you do?"

“Shadows…. you?” Eira couldn’t help but smile.

"Shadows are so cool…" She said, then remembering the question she was asked. "I have Earth,"

“Thanks, earth is pretty cool as well.”

"It helps when you're slowly bleeding to death, when you can heal yourself,"

Eira laughed a little, “Wish I had that skill, probably would have helped me these past months…”

"Welp, I'm here now," She smiled awkwardly.

“That’s true…” She returned the smile.

"So, who's your friend?" Rose asked Eira.

“She helped me escape the palace….” Eira turned to look at Calista.

"They learned much," She whispered. "They're almost there…"

Calista saw the two girls looking at her and walked closer, not wanting to intrude but she knew they were talking about her. "Hi!" she said, waving a few feet away.

Eira subtly nodded to Rose before turning to Calista, “Calista, this is Rose. Rose, Calista…”

"nice to meet you" she said stepping forward, holding out a hand.
