Valerie knocked on the wall of the infirmary, stepping in. “Anyone home?” She joked.

“Well, I am. The first year has been taken care of,” Cato said, turning around and meeting her eyes. “Just thought he shouldn’t be alone when he wakes up.”

Valerie walked over and leaned on top of his head, arms crossed. “That’s nice of you.”

“Yeah,” Cato sighed. “How’re you holding up?”

“I’m fine,” Valerie said. “Outside of Black (at least one of the black sisters is in their year, yes?) being her usual sour self. How are you?” Her tone changed to concern near the end.

“You don’t have to be such a worrywart,” Cato chided, though he really did like that someone worried about him. “I’m good,” he added, a bit quieter. “Are you sure you’re fine?”

“It’s depressing that my hair is long enough for you to braid,” Cato said, leaning his head back and grinning at Val. “Though a part of me doesn’t mind….”

Valerie laughed and leaned down to peck his lips, ignoring the awkward angle. “You’ll look lovely in cornrows, I’m sure.”

“Well, I look ‘lovely’ in everything,” Cato said, spinning around on his chair and kissing her properly. He pulled back to say, “So that doesn’t mean much.”

Sitting up, Melanthea looks wildly around the room. Did anyone see me? She thinks, I'm in so much trouble if someone saw me. Pulling herself up, she gets changed into her pajamas and reaches for her book on Care Of Magical Creatures before she realizes she left it in the common room. Sighing, she gets up and starts the walk back to the common room.

“Cocky, much?” She grinned, leaning her forehead against his as she did an awkward sit print thing.

“Just a bit,” Cato said after a moment of consideration. “I mean, do you think I have a reason to be?” He added innocently.

“Yes, it’s perfectly justified,” she laughed after a moment, grinning at him.

Quickly grabbing the book, I try to sneak back up to my room before running right into someone.

“Well, try not to do that,” Cato said, scrunching up his nose. “That would completely ruin my surprise…”
