Ender pulled into the driveway. He took the keys out of the ignition and cringed. "Oh shoot my dad is home…."

Venus cocked her head to the side. "And?"

"He's probably gonna give me a hard time. And tease you."

Venus rolled her eyes. "You haven't met my parents."

"True." He nodded. "Just…be prepared for some….not nice remarks."

"What do you mean?" Venus asked, suddenly slightly worried. She opened her car door.

"Well….his opinion of women was kinda ruined after the whole ordeal with my mom. Not my stepmom though he loves her to pieces." He got out.

"Oh." Venus stayed very near to Ender's arm.

Ender grabbed her hand and squeezed it a little. "Don't worry. Stepmom usually calms him down." He led her up the front steps.

Venus nodded but still quivered.

Ender opened the screen door and stepped inside. "Dad? Gloria?"
Heavy footsteps sounded down the hall. A rather tall man with black hair appeared, smiling. "Hey kiddo! You're back already?"

Venus hid behind Ender.

Ender nodded. "Yep!"
His dad looked over Ender's shoulder, his smile faltering a bit. "Who's that?"

Venus tensed.

"That's my girlfriend dad." Ender clenched his jaw a bit. "Venus."
His dad hesitated, then smiled again. "Hey Venus! I'm Lawrence."

"Hi," Venus whispered.

Ender started to edge towards the hall. "Well. Venus and I have plans so I'll be seeing you dad."
His dad smirked. "Have fun! Well, not too much fun."

Venus blushed, sticking close beside Ender.

Ender took her hand and dragged her down the hall. "That was close." He muttered.

"What do you mean?" Venus whispered.

"He was starting to get a little icy." Ender replied. "It's nothing personal."

"Oh," Venus hurried after Ender. "So, are we going to your room?" she asked, trying to change the subject.

"Yep." He opened the door and flicked on the light.

Venus smiled and followed him into his room.

"Do you wanna change cloths? I have a pair of pajamas that I didn't use and they're about your size and I have a bathroom."
