“Oh, stop it. All I do is laze around smoking and drinking and zapping people. Think that qualifies me as fat,” Kaz protested with a scoff. He drummed the fingers of his free hand against his thigh absently as they walked
“Oh, stop it. All I do is laze around smoking and drinking and zapping people. Think that qualifies me as fat,” Kaz protested with a scoff. He drummed the fingers of his free hand against his thigh absently as they walked
“That’s not true so quit it. Remember, I’ve seen you stark naked, and you are not fat,” Vaughn shot back, still frowning heavily. He didn’t like how Kaz kept calling himself fat. He loved Kaz, and it upset him when he said things like that.
“Okay, okay,” Kaz chuckled, giving Vaughn’s hand a small squeeze. He didn't like to admit, or hint at his body image issues, but sometimes he just couldn’t help himself
Vaughn hummed, lips pursed into a frown. “You aren’t fat,” he grumbled one last time, more to himself. He tugged Kaz closer to him, falling silent as they walked. He could easily picture what Kaz looked at unclothed, and to Vaughn, Kaz looked absolutely perfect.
“Alright, tall dark an handsome, I’m not fat,” Kaz assured him, stuffing his free hand in his pocket as they walked. A small smile worked its way onto his face at the assurance. Being told he looked alright was actually a rather nice change
Vaughn finally seemed to calm down a bit, nodding. “That’s right,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of Kaz’s head. He gave Kaz’s hand a gentle squeeze, rubbing the back of his hand with his thumb. “Sorry for arguing.”
“No, it’s fine. Sometimes I need someone to bug me until I shut up about hating myself,” Kaz assured him, though he felt his throat tighten quickly at the realization of what he had just said. He had just told Vaughn he hated himself. Like some cliche, stereotypical idiot
“You hate yourself?” Vaughn asked, frowning once again. He didn’t understand, Kaz was amazing. How could he hate himself? The thought that Kaz hates himself just upset him. And even more so because Vaughn hadn’t noticed that Kaz felt that way.
“Just…Forget I said anything,” Kaz mumbled, fixing his gaze on the pavement below him as fear and anxiety curled in his chest. He had ruined everything. Again. He almost felt like dissolving into the ground and never showing his face again
“Kaz, I’m not going to forget about that,” Vaughn said, stopping and looking at Kaz. “How could you possibly hate yourself? What’s wrong?”
“I’m a depressed, anxious piece of shit who ran out of the cash to pay for my meds two months ago. Seriously, Vaughn, it’s fine,” Kaz argued before trying to tug Vaughn back into walking down the sidewalk again
Vaughn stood stiff, pulling Kaz back to him. “We need to talk about this. Keeping it inside is not going to help at all,” he said, the frown still lingering on his lips.
“Yes because we are going to talk about my comically crippling depression in the middle of the sidewalk,” Kaz said sarcastically. “Let’s just get the hospital bribed into your home therapy, okay?” he pleaded, wanting to sink into the sidewalk more and more
“Fine. But we aren’t done having this talk. When we get the home therapy, we are continuing talking about this,” Vaughn pointed out, beginning to walk down the sidewalk again.
“Yeah. Sure,” Kaz mumbled. He glanced down the road, both grateful and dreading that they were only a five minute walk away. He was excited to get Vaughn to move in with him, sure, but he absolutely didn’t want to talk about his depression
"Really? I wanted to be hot and sexy, but I guess I can't have everything. Especially since I have you already." Luka brushed his lips across Axel's knuckles, gazing up at him with star-filled eyes.
"You're hot and sexy too, don't worry," Axel answered, his words turning into a faint mumble as he felt Luka's lips on his knuckles. A faint blush made it onto his cheeks and he hoped that it wasn't too visible.
Vaughn’s lips were turned into a frown now. Couldn’t Kaz see that he was just trying to help him? He could tell that Kaz didn’t want to talk about it, but he really believed that talking could make Kaz feel better.
Kaz walked in silence, his gaze fixed on the hospital growing closer and closer. They eventually reached the building, and he took a deep breath before walking up the steps to the front doors
Vaughn headed up the steps, pulling the door open for Kaz. He went inside after Kaz, glancing around in an anxious manner. He thought that he should go to the front desk, so he walked over. “Name?” The man at the front desk asked.
“Finley.”
“Vaughn or Jack? We have two Finley’s in our system.”
Vaughn took a shuddering breath, tensing up at the mention of his dad’s name. “Vaughn Finley.”
Kaz arched a brow but said nothing. Did Vaughn have a relative in the system or something? He knew his cousin had been in and out a few times when his parents thought he had turned Michael crazy, but he hadn't been in at the same time as his cousin in years. He tapped his foot absently as he waited, trying to think of the right time to ask about the home therapy
Vaughn stuffed his hands into his pockets as the man typed at his computer. “You’re due for your medication. You know where to go.”
Vaughn bit the inside of his cheek and nodded a bit. He glanced over at Kaz, brows raised expectantly.
Kaz snapped out of his thoughts, clearing his throat before speaking. "So, um. I'm under the impression that a Dr. Harlock should have stopped by to talk about how he wanted to try the at-home therapy program from Sweden? He told me that he wanted to use me and Vaughn as sorta test subjects, where Vaughn would move in with me for a while to see how we improved."
The man arched a brow, giving the pair a skeptical look. “He did talk to stone of the doctors about this, yes,” he said. “It was approved, but we can’t give him his medicine. It’s too addictive, so he would need to come here to receive it.” As he spoke, he motioned to Vaughn with one hand.
"Yeah, that makes sense. But can we move Vaughn to my apartment like…today?" Kaz asked, flashing his best smile. "We spent all day yesterday doing the preliminary stuff, and when I talked to Dr. Harlock he said we were good to move Vaughn's stuff into the apartment."
“Right… Go get his things, then. Sign yourselves out when you leave,” The man said. Vaughn gave a grunt in response, pulling Kaz away from the desk and towards an elevator. “Good job,” He murmured, reaching out to give Kaz’s hand a squeeze.
"Thanks. I have a way of getting what I want," Kaz hummed, flashing Vaughn a small smile as they walked towards the elevator. "I'm just surprised Argo actually showed to bribe them. Normally he would have just told me I was being greedy or something," he laughed
Vaughn pressed a button and the doors opened. He stepped inside with Kaz and pressed a button, the doors shutting slowly. “It’s good he did show up. That guy did not look too convinced, though,” he said.
"Yeah, well, that's probably because Argo used all his mindwiping abilities for the day. Brainwashing people is great, unless you've only got the juice to do it to a certain point before you gotta wait 24 hours to do it again," Kaz hummed, leaning back against the back wall of the elevator
“Can you brainwash people?” Vaughn asked, a dark brown arched in question. He leaned back against the wall next to Kaz, looking down at him.
"Nope. Just zap people," Kaz said, holding out his free hand to wiggle his fingers, making sparks of violet electricity dance across his hand. "Though it would be useful. I could just walk up to a bank and tell them to give me enough money to pay my rent on time or something," Kaz laughed
