@Mr.Misfit
Dylan looked over his shoulder and smiled at the sight of Avery's ears, "Will do. And keep an ear out for anymore falling rocks, while you're at it. It's a wonder Kaz and Vaughn made it through last night without you to keep watch."
Dylan looked over his shoulder and smiled at the sight of Avery's ears, "Will do. And keep an ear out for anymore falling rocks, while you're at it. It's a wonder Kaz and Vaughn made it through last night without you to keep watch."
Avery chuckled a bit and nodded. "Sure. I will definitely make sure to do that."
Using the same design from earlier, Dylan built his elevator from the shadows, and reversed the mechanisms to ascend back up the shaft. Once up, he ran up to the second floor closet (which he had used as a storage room for their equipment while they were here) and gathered it all up as best he could. After a few trips between that room and the truck, the gear was packed.
Dylan took a minute to rest in the shade of the truck.
(Is there something specific Kaz should find)
Vaughn had searched around for a few minutes longer, but found nothing that he could see as useful. “Anyone find anything else?” He asked. He had walked to leaned against the interior wall of the elevator next to Kaz, glancing at Avery.
Avery sighed and glanced around the room one last time. Nothing. There was nothing she had seen that could help them…
“No. I didn’t find anything. Kaz? What about you? Anything at all?” she wondered, sticking her hands in her pockets.
(We're on our way to someplace, and there are still a few characters we haven't looked at in a while. Ashton Sykes, Xelnarin, and the Flame in general are all still open ended problems.
Better question, why did we come to Botswana in the first place? I'm pretty sure there's a stone here we were after.
How about an intercepted email or something that gets us going in one of those directions?)
(…Better question, why did we come to Botswana in the first place? I'm pretty sure there's a stone here we were after…)
(I think that's correct. We were searching for it when we got ambushed and basically everyone got injured. And Avery was babbling about Dylan's "pretty eyes". Lol.)
(Yeah, that's right. Was it Time?
We could kill two birds with one stone, say Ashton or Xelnarin came to oversee finding the thing.
Also, how are you still awake? I figured I was the only nocturnal one here…)
(I'd have to double check… I'm not sure if they actually knew which one it was, just that it was there.
Lol. It's only 10 for me. XD Late is, like, 11 pm to 1 am for me.)
(Ah. 11 over here, lol.)
(Lol. Honestly, I could disappear at any moment, though. My wifi gets shut off at might…)
(Okay, so should I just have Kaz find an email saying there’s a stone in the lab? It seems it’d make sense that maybe it’s in a machine they’re testing or smth)
(Yeah, or maybe it has observed troop movements towards a particular place? I'm not entirely sure, so be creative.)
(aight, I got this)
"Hey, guys, I found something," Kaz said, finding a power line leading to a small sphere in a table. He tapped it, and the sphere floated up, light coming from it before taking the form of a screen. Kaz squinted at it, tapping a few buttons before his eyes widened. He clicked on an email, showing plans and diagrams attached to a progress report. The report showed the stats from the testing of a machine, powered by what looked like a stone of some sorts. A machine located somewhere in the facility
(Which facility? Artemis' place?)
(no the one they're in rn. basically I'm like hinting it might be a testing ground/production facility/whatever)
(Ah. I mean, the Lab they're in is literally underneath Artemis' home. So we could say, since she is kinda gone, that they're just running things underground.)
(okay, sorry I'm forgetting a few things still about what we've already done in this rp)
(No worries)
Avery walked over and peered at the screen, her gaze flickering over it. “Is that… another stone? Somewhere in this house?”
Kaz nodded in response. "It's being used as a power source for a machine somewhere. Kind of looks like…it might be familiar," he said as he squinted at the screen
(is it alright if I bring another character in temporarily? I've got an inventor guy who I thought would be interesting if he was accidentally using stones in his machines without knowing what they really were)
(Lol. That's fine, I suppose. So long as it all goes well with him and we don't have to travel again.)
"What in the world… It's being used to power something? What kind of idiot would do that?" Avery questioned, shaking her head with a sigh. "We have to get that stone…"
(I just realized Dylan had done all of that moving stuff around just so they could stay in the same building…)
Dylan got up and threw the water bottle in the passenger seat. Stretching his arms, he went back in the house and went back down. Light emanated from some source Kaz was holding.
"What's that? Some good news, I hope?"
"Yeah, yeah, I just…Oh, shit," Kaz said, eyes widening as he moved down the blueprint diagram, finding the signature of someone named Xerce. "I know him, he works as a weapons provider. Shit, we've gotta find the machine before he finishes it, he has no idea what he's messing with," he said before beginning to look for power lines to lead them to the machines
Dylan blinked, then did a double take, "Wait, you know who, who lives where?"
Did he just say "Weapons Provider?
“Wait wait wait… So you’re saying that you know the guy who is using the stone to power his machine? And he’s a weapons provider?” Avery questioned, staring at him. She sighed and rubbed at her head for the umpteenth time since they’d started this mission. “Great. Just great. You’re right, we definitely have to get that away from him.”
"Yeah, no shit. He probably doesn't know what it even is, he's got a history of just making stuff he's commissioned to make without even knowing what some of the required materials are. They could have told him it's a piece of crystallized dog crap or something," Kaz huffed before making an "aha" noise at the discovery of a bundle of lines taking power further into the facility
Vaughn’s brows furrowed as he had leaned over Kaz’s shoulder to look at the screen. “Well where is he?” He asked, straightening now.
"In…here!" Kaz exclaimed, following the lines to a door. He pressed a few buttons on the panel next to it, opening it to reveal a lit corridor. The door seemed to be blocking tons of electrical signatures, because as soon as it was opened his sight was flooded with different fields. He began to quietly walk down it, eyes squinted a little before widening at the sight of two figures putting off huge amounts of energy. One was shaped like a person and was a little farther in, while another was shaped like a small, round stone
