Skye ignored the others, simply wanting the ceremony to just start already.

A scowl found its way onto his face. Liam was tempted to leave, but willed himself against it. This is important, he reminded himself.

A gong sounded (classy). Cody snapped back to reality. Ceremony time…

Yay! Finally! What's going to happen? Skye wondered, becoming more and more excited.

A man in a suit stepped onto a podium up front. "Thank you all for coming."

Liam nodded slightly and waited for the man to explain what was happening.

He cleared his throat. "As you all know, this is one of the most important occasions in a person's life. And….well I'll skip the chatter you've all been hearing this for the past 75 years."
There was a wave of snickering.

Skye tapped the ground with her fingertips, nervous and excited at the same time.

"Unfortunately, this year we had such a small group coming of age that we had only one choice."
Cody leaned forward.

Wait… What? What does that mean? Skye wondered, her eyebrows scrunching together.

Dahin watched the man nonchalantly, waiting for the crowd to die down so that they could continue and get the ceremony over with. He'd much rather prefer not to be within a close vicinity of the people near him for long periods of time.

He glared, hoping for the man to get to the point already.

"You will all be placed in the same team, as you all have the same skills."
Cody stared at him. What….

"What?!" Liam burst out, breaking his nonchalant stature.

I'm sorry, but what?!? Skye screamed internally.

He tried begging: "Sir, this must be a mistake."

"You all have the qualifications to be a team of hunters, tracking down threats and protecting our city. You will be together for the rest of your lives, til death parts you."

"Till death do we part. Gosh, it's like we're all married to each other, now," Skye muttered under her breath.

"We pretty much did." Cody stated.
The man forged on. "Report to the gate to start your mission."

Dahin glared at the man, his eyes boring holes into the male's skull. He did not come here to be paired up with a group of inadequates. "If death is what parts us, I would not mind being stabbed right now," he muttered under his breath.

Frankly, Liam didn't care if he was acting childish or not. Stomping ahead, only stopping to glance back at them, he grumbled, "Well? Are you coming?"

"I'd gladly do it!" Cody said.

Skye sighed, then stood as well.

"I'm coming," she grumbled.
