“Ok.” Aster took the two rooks of his color and set them down, “Don't they all do something special? What do rooks do?”
“Rooks can go any distance, however they can only go forward, backward, to the right, and to the left.” Jasper explained, putting his rook down and moving it as he explained.
“Oh, ok.” Aster nodded.
“This is a Knight, it goes besides the two rooks. This is a confusing piece actually, it travels three up and one right like this…” Jasper said, moving the price in the way he said.
(Dude I’m terrible at explaining.)
(Lol same XD)
“So, in an ‘L’ shape?” Aster asked, “Could it go like this too?” Aster took his knight and moved it three right and one down.

River looked at the pup in front of her and smiled “not a problem. What are you doing out here?”
"I'm heading back to my house." She said, "Why?" She asked looking up at the witch girl
(Lol same XD)
“So, in an ‘L’ shape?” Aster asked, “Could it go like this too?” Aster took his knight and moved it three right and one down.
“Yep.”
“Ok.” Aster nodded and set it in its place.
“This is a Bishop, it can go any distance but it can only go diagonal. It goes besides the the knights.” Jasper explained.
“Ok.” Aster nodded and set his bishops next to the knights.
“And then the prized queen and king.” Jasper grinned, holding up the two pieces. “The Queen can go in any direction for and distance. The king can go in any direction but on one space.”
“Cool! I’m guessing they go on these two squares?” Aster pointed to the two empty spots in the first row.
“Yep. Oh and I forgot to mention, all the other pieces can’t jump over another piece, only the knight can.”
“Oh, cool!” Aster beamed. He looked at the king and queen, “Uh… which piece goes where?” Aster asked.
“King goes here,” Jasper said, placing the king down, “and queen right there.”
“Alright.” Aster mirrored Jasper, unknowingly putting the king and queen in the wrong places.
“Wrong place, Sweetie. Switch them.” Jasper chirped.
“Oh, ok!” Aster switched the king and queen.
“On the first move, the pawn can go two or one spaces, but only on the first move. The rest are just one, and when a pawn ‘eats’ another piece, it has to be diagonal.”
“Right.” Aster nodded his head.
“I’m pretty sure I forgot a lot of things…”
“It’s fine! I’ll probably figure it out as we go along.”
“Alright, you start first since your pieces are ivory.”
“Oh, ok.” Aster took his pawn farthest to the right and moved it two spaces.
Jasper did the exact same thing.
(Are we going to write down all their chess moves.. .-.)
(Lol I don’t want to but we can if you want XD)
Aster took his knight and moved it somewhere where it’s a legal move.
(Lol no it's fine. xD)
Jasper smirked and moved his rook.
(Should we just jump to when someone wins or what…? I don’t know about you but I gotta see the board to play it :P)
(Lol yeet. So who shall win? .-.)
