âI have a brain tumor that causes me to lash out,â he began. âHer mom was here. Her mom she-â he paused for a while. âSheâs not nice and I had an episode and well you saw what happened.â He couldnât really remember the details.
Lillian nodded. Her head hung low.
The principal sighed ⌠He couldnât be mad at a Cancer kid. âLegally I have to suspend you, but itâs not your fault so I will stop her from pressing churches and getting you arrested. Okay?â
âOkay,â Darren nodded feeling better.
âYou two can take the day off,â the principal smiled sympathetically.
Lillian let out a sigh of relief. She wished this would all just go away.
Darren stood up and waited for Lillian to do the same before walking out.
Lillian followed after Darren. She was absolutely drained, all she wanted was kisses, cuddles, and sleep.
âDo you wanna go home or stay here?â
Lillian bit her lip at the thought of missing yet another rehearsal. She sighed before saying, "Home please."
Darren kissed her softly, âGood choiceâ
Lillian smiled and she kissed him, "I know."
They went to car and drove home. When they got there Darren asked, âYou hungry?â
Lillian shook her head as her stomach growled. She said, "Just a little."
âYou like Mac and Cheese? I have an endless supply I can make for youâŚâ
Darren smiled and took to the kitchen, he wasnât going to eat but that shouldnât stop her. When he was done he delivered a bowl to her. âYou can have this on one condition⌠I get a kissâŚâ
Lillian rolled her eyes. She smiled as she kissed him.
He used his free hand to pull her closer. âYou can have the now,â He said with a devilish grin.
Lillian took the bowl. She wondered why he was smiling like the devil, "Thank you~."
âNo problem,â he said taking a seat on the couch. The smell of the Mac and Cheese was amazing, still not enough to compell him to eat.
Lillian sat down next to him as she ate her mac and cheese. The food tasted amazing to her, "Wanna bite?"
Darren looked at her, "No thanks," he sighed.
Lillian looked at him, "You okay?"
"Are referring to the fact that I haven't eaten anything since the cafe or emotionally. Cause emotionally I'm trying to figure out why I beat up your mother, as far as the eating thing, I'm not hungry."
Lillian reached over and grabbed his hand, "Both."
âI hurt someone,â he said quietly, trying not to cry, âMaybe that someone deserved it but I hurt someone and hardly remember doing it. My thumb wonât stop twitching, my head hurts and my stomach feels uneasy 24/7. I canât remember what I had for breakfast yesterday and sometimes I forget what Iâm saying, on top of that I have a buzz cut and some ugly stitches.â He stopped and sighed.
Lillian put her bowl down. She gave Darren a hug, "Hey. It's okay. You're adjusting, you're body's adjusting. It'll get better. I know it."
"The food is normal, it's a mix of chemo reducing my appetite and me not wanted to spend a day with the toilet. I'm gonna lose weight if I eat or not. This way I don't throw up." a tear fell from his face as he leaned into the hug, "I don't want cancer," He said under his breath.
Lillian held his head with one of her hands, "I know. I know."
He laid all the way down with his head in her lap, "I'm sorry," He said again. He began to cry.
Lillian smiled as she said, "You have nothing to apologize for."
