He looked on down to see his dog laying by the couch, he reached down to pat her head. "Sometimes I forget I have a dog," He laughed.
He looked on down to see his dog laying by the couch, he reached down to pat her head. "Sometimes I forget I have a dog," He laughed.
Lillian laughed, "Oh yeah. Sydney."
"She likes to hide under my dad's bed when he's gone." Darren laughed even more as the dog licked his hand, "That's why we don't see her much,"
Lillian smiled and looked to Sydney, "Well aren't you a sweetie. Waiting for him."
"She doesn't like it when I'm sick. She's always been like that." Sydney was now sitting up as Darren rubbed her face.
Lillian smiled at the dog, "Good job Syd!"
The dog licked Lillian, tail wagging.
Lillian laughed, "That tickles."
"Sorry," Darren laughed, "She has a thing for licking, it's kinda gross."
Lillian kept laughing, "It's fine.. Just wasn't expecting it."
The dog stood up and ran around the room. Eventually, finding an annoying squeaky toy and whipping around causing Darren to laugh uncontrollably.
Lillian started laughing louder. Sydney was being absolutely ridiculous, and it was great.
"See," Darren controlled his laughter; barely, "This is why I want a puppy… Syd could have a friend."
Lillian said between laughs, "Yeah she could!"
The dog rolled around on the ground. "What are we gonna do today?"
Lillian shrugged, "We have school if you feel up to it."
"Yeah, I'm up to it, let's go," Darren said, but not making an attempt to get up.
Lillian didn't try to get up either, "Okay then."
(I gtg again. See ya.)
(Adios… See you later)
Darren sat up to a more sitting position and stretched, "You sure you don't want anything to eat before school?"
Lillian sat up and dangled her legs off the couch. She bit her lip, "I'm positive."
(Yay!)
(Yay!)
"mmk, whatever you say," He smiled getting up to go upstairs and get ready.
Lillian smiled back as she took her bag of things into the bathroom. She closed the door behind her before she changing. She looked at herself in the mirror. Her eyes wandered down towards her scars on her arms. She turned around so she could see her back, the cream had taken care of the shallower ones. But the deeper ones remained, the ones with the words. She quickly turned back to face the mirror. Her breathing was shaky and uneven as she leaned on the sink to keep her from falling.
Darren got ready fast, as usual, being in the bathroom took him the longest. He was getting used to the whole ‘cancer’ thing. The twitch in his hand, the momentary fog that lurked in the corners of his head when he first woke up, the constant uneasy, nauseous feeling in his stomach, yeah, sure, fine. The only thing he couldn’t get used to, was his hair. He was grateful for his eyebrow and lashes still being there for the long haul, holding on for dear life, but the hair on his head bothered him. He starred in the mirror, tilting his head from side to side. He barely recognized himself and that scared him.
The voice in her head started speaking, Look at all these scars. Who would love someone like this? I certainly wouldn't. You're damaged goods. Just give up.
Lillian's grip on the sink increased as she started crying, SHUT UP!
Darren stopped looking at himself and went downstairs, he didn’t want to keep Lillian waiting for too long. He made his way down the stairs and found himself waiting for her instead, not that it bothered him.
Lillian wanted to scream. The voice kept getting louder and louder. She reached into her bag and pulled out a razor blade. She kept it in there if she ever was on the run and needed to shave, looks like it was to be used for a different purpose. She pressed the blade against her skin, it wasn't cut…Yet. The voice whispered, Do it. I dare you.
