Lillian waited outside as she said, "You okay Darren?"
Lillian waited outside as she said, "You okay Darren?"
(Naw⦠It's the chemo and the cronutsā¦)
Darren was crouched low on the floor with his elbows rested on the toilet seat and the heels of his hands dug into his eyes. He appeared to be shaking a bit. Darren didnāt lift his head to acknowledge her. āGet out,ā His voice was hoarse and muffled.
Darren had always been a little weird about letting people near him when he was sick. Even when he was younger, he would tell his own parents to go away, maybe because he was afraid of being sick so it gave him anxiety. With a mix of fear and the tumor, he was bound to be a little crabby.
Lillian sighed as she said, "Okay."
She moved away from the bathroom. The voice started gleefully shouting at her, You messed up! You messed up! He doesn't want you anymore!
Lillian didn't have the strength to fight back.
Darren didnāt move, he gripped the side of the toilet like he would topple over if he let go. He groaned, "Lillian?"
Lillian moved back towards Darren, "Yes?"
"I'm sorry, please don't leave."
Lillian smiled softy, he still wanted her. Take that voice! She walked closer to him, "I can do that."
Darren was curled on his side on the floor with one hand, balling a fist full of the bathroom rug into his palm in an attempt to provide another outlet besides his mouth for the pain the chemo was causing his body. He registered Lillianās presence but didnāt look at her.
Lillian walked up behind him. She crouched down and started rubbing his back. She started humming a lullaby.
Darren recoiled from the contact but settled into it as he heard her humming. "I didn't mean to yell, I'm just scared." He said clenching his jaw.
Lillian nodded as she said, "I know. We'll work through it together. We're a team right?"
She returned to her humming.
Darren nodded, "Team," He said quickly hoping not to throw up again. He leaned against her.
(Lloyd: Suck it up
Lillian: Um Lloyd you were literally begging me to kill you when you were sick
Lloyd: ā¦we do not speak of those times)
(Lol)
(Lillian: I will speak of them if it benefits me.)
Lillian smiled. She moved her hand to his and started massaging it with her thumb.
(Lloyd: >:c)
(Lloyd: Curse your fickle human illnesses! Angel illnesses just kill you! They don't make you suffer slowly and painfully!)
(Lillian: IS THAT ANY BETTER!? AT LEAST MOST OF OURS DON'T KILL YOU!)
(Lloyd: WHATEVER I'VE LITERALLY SEEN PEOPLE EXPLODE SPONTANEOUSLY BC OF SOME RANDOM ILLNESS THEY CAUGHT)
Darren was quiet and seemed to be sleeping. Either way a few minutes later he was lurching forward to reach for the edge of the toilet again. His skin became greyer and his shoulders shuddered. He twisted himself back toward the toilet. It really was awful. His back shook with the effort, one knee kept sliding out from underneath him as he choked and gagged, it seemed like it would never stop.
(Lolā¦)
Lillian stayed next to him. Rubbing his back and humming.
(Lillian seems surprisingly calm and cheerfulā¦)
(Lloyd would probs freak out bc he thinks Darren is going to die and his stress level is already really high. Ya know, hurt Nate n all)
Even when he was done he stayed hovering above the toilet, unable to move. His shivering had turned into shaking and he was beginning to sweat.
(She's having a war with the voices in her head rn)
(And it's a losing battle! She ain't ever going to be free from her mom. She lives inside Lillian now!)
Lillian wondered if this was supposed to be happening. She asked him, "Do you want me to take off you shirt?"
"That'd be nice," He whispered still hovering over the toilet uncomfortably.
(Me: whistling cheerfully as I walk through a town. A town where people are screaming because this town is burning to the ground. I smile. I love the smell of burning town, don't you dying civilian?)
