Lillian looked to Darren. She heard the voice hitch, "Something wrong?"
"No it's fine," Darren said, "Just nervous,"
āAll right, I canāt just surprise you with this one, so try to take deep breaths through your nose and hold still,ā The nurse rubbed his forearm gently, āI know you donāt like this honey, but I promise itāll be worth your while when your cancer is gone.ā Darren turned his head away when she lined the needle up with the soft skin above the crook of his elbow. His eyes found Lillianās and his voice was short and breathy, āPlease distract me.ā
Lillian made a goofy face. She tried to get him to laugh, not wanting to straight up kiss him in front of the nurse. Though she would if it came to that.
He smiled but it faded as Darrenās nails bit into the sensitive skin between Lillianās thumb and index finger as the nurse started threading in his PICC line. That didn't work so well.
Lillian bit back her scream as she leaned over and kissed behind Darren's ear. It had come to this.
Darren let out a small noise and loosened his death grip on Lillian's hand. He wasn't expecting that but it did help. He hardly noticed when the nurse thread the IV into his arm.
Lillian let out a small sigh behind his ear. The warm breath brushing against it as she moved to nibble on his earlobe.
The nurse didn't say anything, she just smiled. She understood. "Okay we're all done, now you get to sit here for awhile and let the chemo so it's thing,"
Lillian moved back to her original position. Her face was a bit red considering what she just did.
The nurse smiled and exited the room. "Thank you," Darren said quietly, not fully recovered from everything that just happened.
Lillian smiled and nodded, "Anytime."
He was shaking from the IV in his arm. "That thing is making me uncomfortable and I'd like nothing more than to rip it out,"
Lillian rubbed at his unnumbed arm, "It'll be out soon. Just let it do it's job."
Darren nodded pushing himself up with one arm to a sitting position, "Thanks again for coming today,"
Lillian smiled at him, "Of course! It's no problem at all."
"I talked to the Social Service people on the phone today," Darren informed her.
Lillian looked at him, "Really? When?"
"You were in the bathroom, it was after breakfast." Darren smiled remembering 'after breakfast', "They said they have all the paperwork ready to arrest your mom."
Lillian smiled at the memory as her eyes opened wide and gained this glimmer to them, "They do? I can be free from her?"
Darren smiled, "Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It'll be a few days until they get there but, yeah,"
Lillian leaned over and hugged him being mindful of the IV. She had tears in her eyes, "Thank you."
"For you," He smiled, "Anything!"
(I gtg, goodnight!)
(Night!)
Lillian sighed happily, "I know."
And that's why you don't deserve him.
W-who are you? W-why are you in my head? W-why do you sound lik-
Like your mother? You thought you would be free. You'll never be free. Not now. Not ever. Not until the day you end your miserable life.
Sh-shut up!
Lillian's fist grabbed at Darren's shirt as she scrunched it up.
Darren hugged her tight, āHey itās okay,ā he assumed it was from the stress of her mom leaving.
('fraid I'm dropping this rp. starting my diploma exams soon and I need to study. so, goodbye.)
(Adios man. Itās been fun)
