(lol ok I think I'll just start off the mutations with traumatizing Kaz even more)
Kaz couldn't breathe. Couldn't think. All he could see was family, friends, Vaughn ripped apart brutally as his father tore them apart. While he helped. But it wasn't him, it was something that looked like him. Someone with black eyes and a smile that Kaz recognized. One that tore him apart in his dreams, watched his chest being tore open on a surgeon's table next to a row of people he cared about. He began to thrash in his sleep, nails reaching up to dig into his chest, claw at his neck
Vaughn had rolled slightly away from Kaz in his deep sleep, so he frowned in that state when he felt movement on the bed. He stretched his arms out as he opened his eyes slowly, growing quickly panicked when he noticed Kaz’s state. “Kaz? Kaz,” He said, rolling over and sitting up. He shook Kaz, not wanting him to accidentally hurt himself.
The motion startled Kaz awake, and he fell from the bed with a sharp cry. His breathing was quick and sporadic, and he curled in on himself as he shook. His nails dug into his legs through the thick cargo pants, eyes unfocused and frantic as he breathed heavily. "No more, no more," he repeated
Vaughn’s eyes widened even more and he hopped off the bed, crouching by Kaz’s side. “Kaz! Kaz, are you okay?!” He asked in a slightly panicked tone. He grabbed Kaz’s hands in his own to keep him from hurting himself.
"Don't touch me!" Kaz screamed, wrenching his hands away from Vaughn. "Don't touch me, don't touch me, no more!" he shouted, his eyes squeezing shut as tears streamed from them. And that was when it happened. The hair on the backs of their necks stood up, and that was the only warning before a flash of white-streaked violet shot Vaughn backwards
Aliana's head throbbed. She fell to the ground as her eyes turned pure white as she let out a guttural scream. Pain, so much pain and suffering. What is this?!
Vaughn had been about to shout Kaz’s name, but he yelped in pain when he was suddenly thrown backwards. His head smacked hard against the floor, and he groaned sharply in pain, black spots clouding his vision as he grew close to unconsciousness.
The jolt seemed to snap Kaz out of it as well. He blinked a few times, breathing quickly as he looked around. He had done…something, but whatever he had done had caused Vaughn to hit the floor. His hands flew to his mouth at the sight of him, and he shook slightly as he couldn't hold tears back. "Oh my god, I'm sorry, I'm so, so-" He was cut off abruptly as a familiar glint came to his eyes.
"He's not sorry, why would he be? He likes hurting the people he loves, likes-" The voice, Kaon was cut off abruptly as Kaz gave a strangled cry. His hands flew to his wrists, digging into the bandages as he struggled to get air into his lungs
Vaughn recognized that other voice. Kaz’s other personality, the one that he had gotten in a fight with. He couldn’t remember his name at the moment, considering he was fighting his body to try and stay awake. Kaz needed his help. “Kaz, n-no,” He stammered in a choked, uneasy tone.
Kaz's head snapped towards Vaughn, the glint back for a moment. "Kaz, no!" Kaon mimed dramatically. "Just watch, now that he's got his daddy's joy buzzer he'll deep fry you too," he spat before Kaz was back with a strangled cry. He fell to the floor, curling up as blood dripped from the bandages he had ripped apart. Pain, pain, focus on the pain. It was all he could do to keep from hurting someone again
Aliana struggled as she stood up. Her eyes hurt, her head hurt, her being hurt. What was that? Kaon? Kaz? Vaughn? Maybe I should check on them.
She leaned against the wall as she moved her way towards their room.
Vaughn grimaced at Kaz’s words. He blinked a few times, finally collecting himself. He crawled carefully over to Kaz, gripping at his shoulders. “Kaz? Concentrate on my voice, you’ll be okay,” he said quickly, tone still choked as his head throbbed. He felt something drip down the back of his neck. Blood. He must have a cut on the back of his head.
"D-Don't touch me," Kaz said weakly, a small sob escaping his throat. "I don't want-I don't want to hurt you," he muttered quietly. His hands were covered in blood, blood trailing from his wrists. He had ripped open a good portion of the scabs, staining the floor where he lay
Aliana reached the door. She didn't know what the hell that vision was, but if it was true then… Well let's just say bad things. She knocked on the door.
“Kaz, baby, just breath. It’s okay,” Vaughn stammered, trying to calm the hysterical boy down. His eyes widened at the blood, and he moved to grab Kaz’s hands when he froze at the knock on the door. “One minute!” He called.
Aliana waited. She hoped it was because the two needed to get dressed, not what she had seen.
Kaz inhaled sharply at the touch, his fingers twitching with the urge to claw at his wrists. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he repeated like a mantra, refusing to look at Vaughn as he cried silently
“It’s okay, it’s okay,” Vaughn reassured gently. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to Kaz’s forehead. He carefully took Kaz’s hands in his, lacing their fingers together. “I’m here, concentrate on me.”
Kaz's repeated apologies began to slow until they stopped, still breathing quickly as he looked up at Vaughn. "I'm so sorry. I hurt you," he murmured softly, eyes big with tears still spilling from them. He couldn't apologize enough, couldn't explain himself without feeling like he was making excuses. Sorry was all he could say
“You didn’t hurt me bad, trust me. Just a little scrape is all, I’m okay,” Vaughn assured. He pressed a brief kiss to Kaz’s lips, giving his hands a squeeze. “Just breathe, okay?”
"I don't-don't want to breathe," Kaz said in a shuddery, strangled voice. "Don't deserve it, I hurt you," he said, fingers twitching as he tried to scratch at his arms before realizing they were still in Vaughn's hold
“Kaz, baby, please.. Breathe, do it for me,” Vaughn soothed, bringing one of Kaz’s hands to his lips. He kissed at his knuckles gently, trying to reassure him that everything would be okay.
Kaz took a deep, gasping breath, trying to will himself to stop strangling himself with panic. He was reacting badly because he hadn't had his anxiety medication in a while, he was sure of it, but he was more concerned with trying not to suffocate himself. It took him a few long minutes before he could finally breathe normally. They were shallow and shuddery, but it was breathing
“There you go, good… If I let your hands go, will you not hurt yourself?” Vaughn asked, rubbing at the backs of Kaz’s hands with his thumbs gently. He looked down at Kaz, the worry obvious in his eyes.
Kaz nodded slowly, not trusting himself to speak. He was still shaking slightly, anxiety going wild as he fixed his gaze on the floor. It had happened. He had mutated. And he hated it
Vaughn hesitantly released Kaz’s hands, rubbing gently at his palms for a moment. “It’s okay, it’s okay,” he repeated, leaning down to press his face into the crook of Kaz’s neck. He pressed kisses against the skin soothingly, just to let Kaz know that he was still there.
"I'm so sorry," Kaz murmured shakily, taking a few deep breaths as the physical contact helped calm him a little. He knew he was still shaking a little, but he chose to ignore it as he exhaled slowly
“It’s alright, Kaz… Just concentrate on calming down,” Vaughn said in a soft tone. He left a few more kisses along the side of Kaz’s neck, sighing softly to himself.
"Why do you keep saying it's alright? I-I zapped you! I honest to god zapped you!" Kaz exclaimed, nearly throwing his hands in the air out of exasperation. The contact did help a little, and his breathing was finally beginning to slow
“I know you zapped me, but I’m not hurt bad. Only a small cut, remember? I just need you to calm down. Come on, let’s go to the bathroom and get you cleaned up, okay?” Vaughn murmured, lips brushing along Kaz’s jaw line now.
