“It’s all set against Arianna,” she agreed. “They’re technically the same rank but his cohort is more respected.”

Sage sighed. "Yeah, but Reyna has those dogs. Aurum and Augentum, I think their names are. Plus, Cato is going to confess. Arianna will be ok." Sage was saying this more to reassure himself than to reassure Valerie and Stella.

“Today, //insert random date and time, we gather to try Arianna //last name// on the accusations of attempted murder from Alexander //last name//. Seeing as there were no witnesses, we will immediately proceed with the prosecutor’s argument, then the defendants. We will take comments from the jury last. //Alexander’s lawyer//, you may begin.

Michael, the other centurion of the first cohort, stood up, “Praetor Reyna, my client, Alexander Ouche (prounouced like douche but without then d), "My client was alone with Arianna Aire at the time of the assault. They have both said the blade seemed to move on its own, impaling my client. Blades cannot move on their own, this is a given fact. As of such, we'd like to argue that Aire used her witchcraft, stemming from Urania, to bend and force the blade to attack Alexander. It's important to note she does not have a good relationship with him, and has personal reasons for this assault."

Reyna huffed slightly and scrawled something onto a piece of paper. “And the defendant’s argument?”

“Praetor Reyna, my client, Arianna Aire, was alone with Alexander Ouche at the time of the assault. They have both said the blade seemed to move on its own, impaling Ouche. When else have we talked about a moving blade? In case //some number//, in 2010, there was a cursed blade. The cursed blade, when unsheathed, would be able to stab their target.” Larry, the other centurion for the second cohort, said.

Sage crossed his fingers. And his toes.

"A cursed blade?" Alexander was scoffing.

“Comments from the jury?” Reyna asked, clearly bored.
“Where is your evidence that Alexander would be the blade’s target?” A woman in the back called before Cato said anything.

“He was the one stabbed.” Larry replied.

“Not to mention my client does not possess the abilities to levitate a blade and stab someone with it.” Larry added.

“And why would the blade target the centurio-“ the woman continued before being cut off by Cato. He stood up and slowly walked down to the center, squeezing Valerie’s hand before he di.
“I have a statement that will clear this whole thing up… the blade was cursed. I found it a couple years ago and gave it to Alexander.”

“Do you have any evidence backing up your claim?” Reyna sighed.

“Uh, Yeah, there’s a scroll detailing the curse and the blade in my closet at the forge,” he said after a moment.

“Can someone go dig in his closet?” Reyna asked, “And if the scroll you mention is found, you will be the one who is punished, Mr…”

“Cato. Cato //last name//. And yes, praetor, I’m well aware.”

Reyna nodded. Two males bursted in, one of them holding the scroll. “We found the scroll!” They proclaimed. Reyna gestured for them to bring it over. She looked at the scroll and sighed.
“Mr. Flavius, please stand aside as the jury and I determine as suitable consequence.” Reyna sighed.

Alexander stood up, “As the victim, I say the suitable consequence is exile.”
