Tanrial gave her thanks to the Mother and told her she wold do her best to train Bernon, “Stay close, I don’t know if the others will attack.” She flipped her hood and motioned for him to follow.
Bernon did so, keeping a wary eye on their surroundings. "If they do attack, what's the plan?"
“We try to stay out of the way of the markets and people. Grab anything to fight with as you haven’t trained yet so physical fighting it is.”Tanrial watched as the two Pycral followers met with another two, “There’s four of the them. Just Pycral followers though.”
"Got it." Bernon took a deep breath and checked to make sure he could reach his hunting knife. "Hand-to-hand is in my comfort zone, luckily."
“Soon,” Tanrial lowered her voice as they neared the backstreets they took to get here, “you might not need to use it as much.”
"True. Man….. that's hard to imagine." Bernon shook his head. "And here I thought I was about as ordinary as ordinary could get."
Tanrial gave a low chuckle, “Bernon, from what we know, you are far from ordinary. Always have been you just… never had the right resources to figure it out.”
Bernon gave her an odd look. "Um….what do you mean, 'we?' Have you been watching me?"
She shook her head, “No, I haven’t. Sorry, I should have said ‘from what you and I now know.’”
"Oh, right, okay. Yeah, I guess that's true." He paused to glance around. "We'd better save the rest of this chat for when we get home, eh? We're not out of the woods yet."
(I gotta go now, won't be back for a good while. Seeya)
Tanrial nodded but stayed silent as they walked.
(Okay, I should get some sleep anyway. See ya soon)
Bernon let the silence continue for a while, alternately lost in thought and and checking for followers.
They neared a cross road and Tanrial glanced round it. Before Bernon could walk out she pulled him back and motioned for him to be silent.
He went perfectly still, scanning the way ahead, one hand on the clasp of his backpack in case he needed to take it off quickly.
Tanrial poked her head around the corner slightly. Only four still and luckily they hadn’t noticed them yet. She picked up muffled conversation but couldn’t hear anything really. Behind them a ladder led up to the roof of near by building. She pointed towards it, and got ready to climb.
Bernon nodded in agreement, ready to follow her as soon as she gave the signal.
(I have to go for a bit, back later)
She ditched her cloak and made sure that the weapons she had were strapped securely to her body. She signaled for Bernon to go first.
(Okay)
(Hi I'll be slow but I'm here)
As quietly as he could, Bernon pulled himself up the ladder and onto the roof. Memories of his time training for the army came flooding back, and he paused to carefully check for hostiles before turning to wave at Tanrial.
Tanrial followed suit, as light as a feather and not making any noise. She arrived at the top with ease and lent over the edge slightly to get a better look at the Evyns below them. They luckily still had not seen them.
Bernon spoke in a whisper. "Okay, clearly we need to get out of town. What's our route gonna be?"
(brb, havin supper real quick)
“If we make it to the other side of town think I can remember a route back to the cabin,” she whispered back, “we need to get past these guys though. I think we can make it the the other roof if we’re fast enough.”
(Okie dokie)
(I'm here for a teensy bit and then I have to go to bed unfortunately T.T we've been doing lights out much earlier lately)
"Roger that. If you go first, I can toss my bag over and then follow. I don't want to try jumping while wearing it, it's too clumsy."
(Ah, opposite to me then.. hehe)
Tanrial nodded in agreement and crawled over the roof, trying not to slip on the metal. The jump was bigger then she had originally thought but she and Bernon would make it. Making sure the others weren’t looking she stood, took a few steps back and landed with a small bang on the other roof.
(yep lol)
Bernon soon joined her, almost losing his balance but not quite falling. "Now would be a great time for me to have some wings and cool powers that I actually knew how to use."
(aaand now I'm off, see you tomorrow!)
“You’ll be able to use them soon.” the two set off across the other rooftop
(Byeeeeee)
Bernon allowed himself a grin as he prepared to leap to the next roof. "Yeah. I'm trying really hard to not get childishly excited about that right now." He paused to duck out of sight as the Evyns passed by below them. "That would be kinda stupid in our current situation."
“Well, you’re not wrong. As soon as we’re out of town you can be as excited as you like.” She grinned back at him preparing for the next jump.
(I only have about half an hour then I won’t be back until later, sorry)
