The nurse came out of the room into the hallway to see Jane and Ender sitting on the edge of their seats.

Ender sprang to his feet. "How is she?"

“Has she stopped talking about magic kisses?” Jane asked urgently.

The nurse nodded and smiled. "Better. You can go see her. She kept saying about wanting to dance with Ender. And no, she… still wants a magic kiss," she said, very confused.

Blaine let out a breath she hadn't even known she'd been holding before whispering, "Good. I'm glad."

Brendon let out a soft smile, "It will never be you."

"I hope not," Blaine said, smiling back at him.

"I promise," Brendon looked at her.

Brendon nodded, "Uh, yeah."

Blaine winked at him before pulling him down the street.

"C'mon, then, slowpoke!" she teased.

Brendon laughed as he followed her down the street.

"I'll race you!" Blaine shouted, letting go of Brendon's hand and taking off.

Brendon smiled and shouted, "Not fair!" as he ran after Blaine.

Blaine laughed as she ran. Soon, she started to run out of breath, and her house came into view. The white trim stuck out brightly against the dark purple siding. She slowed down and let Brendon catch up to her.

Brendon caught up to Blaine panting, he would be laughing if not for his lack of breath. He said, "So is this your place?"
