Adeline jumps, and puts her hand over her heart. "No no no… This car just almost hit me but I dodged. There's no driver or passengers, though."

"Are you positive? Let me check under the car." Jackie used her shadow powers to jump into the shadows of the car. Sure enough, there were no people in the car anywhere.

Adeline sighed, and rubbed her arms up and down.

Jackie popped out from the shadows of the car. "Here, I'm sure John would be fine if you joined us. You know him correct?"

Adeline nodded. "Yes I do. Vaguely. But I don't need to join you. I just…. I just need to go to the library." she said, her voice trailing off. Then she began to walk away.

Jackie runs after her. "WAIT. Let us at least drive you, someone might be trying to hurt you."

Adeline stopped and looked terrified. "I didn't think about that. In that case… could you take me home?" she asked quietly.

Jackie smiled a nervous smile. "Yes of course. My car is right there." Jackie pointed to her car just a little down the street.

Adeline nodded without a word, and got in the car, hugging her knees. * this is a horrible idea… get in a car after I almost got run over? * she thought.

Jackie could tell she was worried. "Hey it's fine. I promise I'm not going to hurt you."

Adeline smiles weakly. "I figured you wouldn't. But that was pretty scary, I have to admit. I just… What if someone is trying to hurt me? I mean, I've annoyed people in the past, but enough for them to act on it? Thats… That can't happen right? Why would someone want to kill me?" she was rambling and she knew it, but Adeline was terrified.

Jackie starts the car and begins driving. She smiles to herself. "It may be hard to believe but I actually know what it's like."

Adeline looked at her questioningly. "What happened?" she asked.

Jackie shook her head. "Well for a while I was a part of the infamous group of thieves, "The Shadows of Seattle." and before that, I got in a lot of trouble for faking a doctorate and becoming an uncertified doctor. People were constantly after me and I had no idea who wanted to kill me. That's the main reason I'm taking a break right now."

Adeline was silent the rest of the ride to her house. When she got there, she nodded her thanks and went into her house. Jackie. The Shadows of Seattle. Jackie was apart of the people who had ruined her life.

(MWAHAHAHAHA)

Adeline picked up a picture of her dad, and lay on her couch with it. She could not have a panic attack. Not now. As her breathing excelled, she tried to sing the song her dad wrote for her in her head. Thankfully it helped enough so that she could then remember her breathing exercises. Once she regained control, she turned on the TV. Hopefully it would numb her brain and she wouldn't have to think about the problem at hand.

The TV show was boring Addy to death, so she decided to get up and get a snack.
