“No. It's not that.” Charlie chuckled, taking the opportunity to take off her cloak. “I’ve shared a bed before with traveling companions and the occasional stranger.” she winked. “But I’ve never even thought about just sleeping in the same bed as… as a goddess. You have to admit, to a mortal such a thing is a pretty intimidating idea. Even if it is just sleeping and nothing more.” she clarified.
Irae nodded. "Ah. You are… Intimidated? I'll take that as a compliment. I promise I won't try to do anything other than sleep- if that comforts you at all." She said, sitting on the bed and taking her boots off.
“Yeah, I guess you could say that.” Charlie smirked softly. “I’m glad I didn't offend you with that though. And, if it assures you, I wasn't planning on anything more than sleeping either,” she promised, following Irae’s example and sitting on the other side of the bed.
Irae shrugged. "If you did, it would be your funeral. I sincerely doubt you would be able to make me do anything I didn't want to. I wasn't worried." She said, taking off her cloak and shirt, revealing the bandages wrapped tightly around her torso. "Did the medic say anything about how long these need to stay on?" She asked, stretching out.
“I have no doubt.” Charlie chuckled, holding up her hands in playful surrender. She wouldn't even dream of trying to make a deity do anything they didn't want to. “I don't really remember how long she said to leave your bandages on, but we can check them in the morning.”
Irae nodded. "Alright, that sounds good to me. Is there anything else we need to talk about right now?" She asked, laying down.
“Not that I can think of.” Charlie shrugged, getting up to check that the door was locked before coming back to the bed and kicking off her boots as well as taking off her knife harness.
Irae nodded, laying on her side and curling her rain around her waist. "In that case, I am going to rest like the medic suggested. Wake me up if there is any trouble or you need me for anything. Really. I will be more mad if you let me sleep when you need me than if you wake me up for a false alarm."
Charlie chuckled softly and shook her head. “Don't know why but that reminds me of a halfling friend I traveled with once. That woman could wield a frying pan like nobody’s business. In cooking and combat. Many shattered knee caps.” she smirked fondly as she stretched out like a cat.
Irae smiled a bit. "Shattered kneecaps are amazingly effective." She muttered, closing her eyes. "And I'm sure frying pans are decent weapons, though I've never seen one."
“They absolutely are.” Charlie smiled watching Irae fall asleep. “Brought almost every enemy down for the rest of our group to finish. And those we left alive, had to tell the story of how they were defeated by a small woman with all the ferocity of an angry mama bear.”
Irae nodded. "If she isn't one of mine already, I'll have to reach out for her. Sounds like my kind of girl" She mumbled.
Charlie shrugged. “I never asked if she was but I definitely will introduce you to each other if we run into her.” she smiled softly, keeping her voice down so Irae could continue to rest.
Irae nodded softly, drifting off, her tail relaxing. Her mouth fell open a little bit, and she let out a small sigh.
Charlie smiled softly at the sight of Irae finally sleeping. It shouldn't have been a surprising sight, considering the unusual events of the day but…
She wasn't entirely sure if she was tired yet or not but decided to go ahead and close her eyes for a while anyways.
(time skip? Should there be problems at night or should they sleep well till morning?)
(I'm fine with a time skip till morning)
In the morning, as the sun came up, Irae woke. She looked around, remembering the events of the previous day, before slowly and gently getting up and examining the room more closely.
Charlie let out a soft sleepy moan as the bed shifted and rolled over to her side. “G’morning.” she murmured, rubbing her eyes.
Irae nodded at her. "Morning. Did you sleep well?" She asked, sliding her boots back on.
“Mhm.” Charlie hummed, brushing her dark mess of curls back as she sat up. “As much as I love camping, it's nice to sleep in a real bed every once in a while.” she admitted.
Irae nodded. "I wouldn't know, but I'll believe you." She said, stretching out. "Should we check my wounds?"
“Oh, sure.” Charlie nodded, stretching. “Come sit over here and I’ll take a look.” she instructed with a slight tilt of her head.
Irae sat on the bed, back to Charlie, trying to reach around to unwrap the bandage. "Alright. I can't find the edge…"
“I got it,” Charlie assured gently. “Just hold still and let me know if or when anything hurts.” she said as she carefully started unwrapping the bandages.
Irae nodded. "It's so weird- it feels like I still have my wings, but as I try to use them, they aren't there." She said, sighing and tilting her head forward. The wounds had scabbed over, and while they looked bad, they looked like they were healing correctly, with no sign of infection.
(Btw, I'll be in Japan next week and won't have time to respond as much)
"I've heard of that. Travlers who've lost a limb… I've heard them call it a phantom feeling." Charlie said softly as she looked over Irae's wounds. "Good news though. Everything seems to be healing fine. It's not done healing, and it's probably going to itch later on, but it's coming along pretty good." she explained. "Of course, I've heard Elf healers are some of the best so it's not that surprising."
Irae nodded. "Ah. I don't like it. The phantom limb thing, that is. I'm glad it's healing well." She said. "Should we re-wrap it?" She asked, unsure how to proceed.
“Yeah, probably. I think I have some spare fresh bandages in my bag if you'd like me to rewrap it for you.” Charlie nodded. “I don't blame you for how you feel though. Obviously, I've never experienced it and can't quite imagine it… but it sounds very unpleasant.”
Irae nodded, in response to both things. She looked over her shoulders and sighed. "I wonder, when I'm a god again, if they'll grow back both whole, or if one will grow back burnt like it use to be- I don't remember burning it, as far as I know it was always that way, but it might come back normal. Then I could actually fly instead of just half-glide." She mused.
