"Basically - because this has happened before - when an immortal falls to earth, they're to be claimed by a mortal and serve them until those who are still immortal deem you worthy of regaining your status." Mallory says, making a pen off the table float - a fidget for her ADHD. "Also, I'm not a witch."

"That's the funny thing. Watch this." She looks up and says, "I'm Mallory Kranoe, and I claim your service!" Thunder boomed on a clear day. "See? That's your king or whatever binding it. We are now bound by fate, kinda."(is that ok or should i edit?)

Maddalena’s jaw dropped at both the boldness of this woman, Mallory, and the fact that the claim was so binding that they agreed to it. “You… You can’t be serious.” she huffed, though it was unclear whether she was talking to Mallory or the sky. “Fine. But you still have yet to answer my question.” she pointed out, this time obviously addressing Mallory.

"Well," Mallory says, trying to maintain a straight face but failing miserably, "Obviously, your immortal pals want you down here." She spins the pen in the air. "The last time, it was in Manhattan, some god named Apollo, he had to do this huge quest to kill, like, a snake or something." She looks the Goddess in the eyes. "Basically, immortals tend to go to extremes with their kin."

Maddalena scowled at the mention of the others kicking her out of her home. “I don't have any “pals”.” she growled, saying the word with a fair amount of venom. “As for this Apollo… Well, he probably deserved it. He takes so many conquests, it's ridiculous. He may have even got off easy dealing with a snake.” she scoffs. “But I am surprised by how well-versed you are in this situation.”

“You cheated.” Maddalena points out, having felt the mental presence. She's not angry about it though. If anything, she's actually impressed. “Very well. Since this is binding, I'm afraid we’re stuck with each other.”
