She sighs and shakes her head
"Yes I'm sure! "

Jess grins.

"Okay. . ."

She sets down her phone and redyes her hair midnight blue.

(That's so unhealthy and not at all how that works…)

Nikki pauses and sends another text
"What was that for? "

(. . . Jess, and I, do not care about how things should work or about what is healthy- leave the child alone- and it doesn't happen every night-)

Jess finishes up and rinses out her hair, going back to the phone.

"Oh, nothing, just redyed my hair."

(Fucking hell)

"Wait… You… Wait what? "

(Yep!)

Jess grins.

"Yeah, spiky midnight blue hair now. Not green. Sorry."

Nikki face palms and replies
"Umm your hair is dead.. "

Jess stretches and grins.

"Actually, no. Most I've done it is twice a month."

"That's still not good.. "

Jess shrugs.

"My hair's still fucking fabulous, so who cares?"

"I highly doubt that hun"

Jess snaps a picture of her hair, sending it to Nikki.

"See? Still fabulous"

"i mean yeah its cute but still…" she sent the text smiling a bit to herself

Jess grins.

"Oh? Is that so?"

"look im not going to say its not cute, because it is"

Jess flops down onto her bed.

"I think I'm detecting some ammount of snark to that statement"

"maybe you are but how could you tell over text?" she asks smirking at her screen

"Well I have a special ability called 'reading between the lines'" Jess replies, snickering.

Nikki laughed now just being a nusence "there was only one line what is there to read between??"

"Um. . . the spaces between words???" Jess suggests, rolling onto her stomach.

'' uh huh and what did you gather exactly?"

"That you were indeed being snarky" Jess shoots back.

"i…..dont think i was." she replies

"Oh. . . huh. Well, reading between lines can be a flawed practice sometimes 🤷‍♀️" Jess sends back

"yes it definitely can be dear.."

Jess laughs slightly.

"Well. . . anyways, moving on to something else"

"ah yes change the subject.."

"Oh shut it, let me change the topic in peace" Jess shoots back

"and if i don't?"

"I'll call you" was all Jess replies with. She figured it would be enough of a threat, since Nikki seemed to not exactly enjoy human company.
