Dove pondered on the situation for a few moments. Maybe she was being a fool, refusing such a kindness from the princess. The images flashed through her mind again, but now they saddened her as well as frightened her.
“I think… I think I will accept your offer, but I cannot go to the palace just now. There are many ways it could go awry. I will go when I feel it is best.”
Cautiously, she turned to Alice again. “Princess, I admit that I don’t know you, but I want to get to know you more. Would you… would you keep visiting me? If it is not too much trouble…”

Alice smiled at dove when she reconsidered and nodded "of course I just wouldn't wait to long my father will most likely tell you tell same thing I did, but take all the time you need I'll visit you whenever I'm able of course you don't have to worry about that it's no trouble. "

Ah, the princess’s smile was so lovely. Dove managed to to return it. “Thank you. I know I’ve said it before, probably too much, but you are very kind to me, Your Highness.” Gingerly, she touched her black eye. “Maybe I’ll just… stay here. I don’t want to go back just now.”

Alice blushed slightly and bowed her head "I am kind because you deserve it dove. " she looked up when dove said she would stay there and she was instantly worried "I will stay here with you then you shouldn't be out here alone and it's only right I bring you home seeing as though I brought you here"

Dove searched Alice’s face. She was unsure of what she meant by those words, but something about it made her smile fall.
She laughed a little, though. “What is that worried face of yours for? I’m alright, just aching a little. But thank you for staying with me.” She paused, her gaze flickering downward. “Hm, alright…”

“No, no, of course not,” Dove shook her head, taking the princess’s hand in an attempt to comfort her. When she realized what she did, she pulled her hand away. “Oh! I’m so sorry Your Highness, I didn’t mean to touch you like that. My apologies.” She looked away, embarrassed.

Dove shrugged back. “Never mind it then, Your Highness.” She started playing with her shawl a little, tugging at it with her fingers. “Anyway… would you, um, would you want to get to know each other better?”

@Tired-but-passionate

Dove smiled too when she saw Alice’s enthusiasm. “Alright. Ah…” she hid her face behind her hands. “I… I’m not good at this, princess. Um… well, you’re the princess, so… maybe you should start?” She took her hands away and looked sheepishly at her.

“Um…” she reached a hand to her neck. “I don’t have a lot of time for hobbies… but I know how to sew, and I like to sew little things and mend my clothes. And I like helping out our chef in the kitchen. He’s good to me. And you?”

@Tired-but-passionate

Dove blinked with surprise. “Really? I thought you would have more freedom to do as you like.” Then she chuckled slightly. “That sounds like a fun hobby, though. I like sneaking out like this too.”

@Tired-but-passionate

“Ah…” Dove sighed softly. Briefly she thought of her own father’s warm face, his comforting arms. “Well, perhaps you can learn to have fun again. Perhaps we both can.”

@Tired-but-passionate

“I… don’t know. Maybe… maybe just getting away from everything, like this, is enough. For now.” Her gaze drifted off to the entrance to the cave, watching the water cascade into the river.
