“Ok.” he smiled back shyly as he adjusted his soft grip.

"So not to rain on your parade but I don't have a swim suit. " she looked down at the beautiful clear water with a nervous laugh

“Oh. That's ok. I mean, I did only ask you to dinner. Going swimming was just a suggestion.” he assured with a shrug.

"The water feels nice thought it's a shame really. ''

“Yeah, it does.” he nodded. “And if you're going to be here all summer, you’ll have plenty of chances to go swimming.”

"I've never really been swimming in anything but a public pool once. " she sounded disgusted by that memory

He nodded with an understanding hum. “Yeah, those vary in a lot of ways but I prefer the ocean. No chemicals and the people are more fun.”

"It definitely smelled amazing out here. "

“The smell of the ocean is definitely a plus.” he chuckled, nodding.

"I can't believe I've been missing out this entire time it almost makes me mad. " she said with a soft laugh

“It's ok. Not everyone can live so close to a beach.” he pointed out. “And there are some people who have gone their whole lives without ever visiting one.”

"I almost did" she said with a nervous smile.

“Key word there is “almost”.” he pointed with a soft chuckle. “You're here now.”

"Yeah that's true, way to think on the positive side. " she gave his hand another gentle squeeze as she smiled up at him

“I normally try to be a pretty positive person.” he admitted. “If you only look at the downside of things, you're just going to end up depressed.”

"That is very true I respect that. "

“Thanks.” he smiled. “It's almost a philosophy I try to live by. I mean, I still have bad days, of course. It would be too weird if I didn't.”

"Everyone has their bad days that's just life but that means you just have to make the most out of your good days. "

Marcus grinned, a soft pink painting his cheeks. “Exactly! Wow… Now I know how you felt earlier.” he laughed.

"Yeah I that's how I live my life just take it one day at a time and and take it with a grain of salt. "

“That's another interesting way to look at things.” he nodded.

"I'm very interesting to you apparently. " she said with a soft smile

He chuckled again, running his fingers through his hair. “Yeah. You are.”

"I still don't understand why I am though I find it peculiar. "

“Well, I don't often have someone to talk to like this. So it's interesting to hear that we have a lot in common.” he smiled. “And secondly, you being British wouldn't notice it because you're around it all the time just like I don't notice being American. But there's always been something interesting about people from other countries.”

"I understand that I obviously don't talk to people very much either so it's okay and I agree with you I find other cultures fascinating. "
