"Oh, a skirt would work wonderfully," Ellie chirped, running her fingers through her dampened blonde hair. "And any kind of blouse that you think would suit me."
"Oh, a skirt would work wonderfully," Ellie chirped, running her fingers through her dampened blonde hair. "And any kind of blouse that you think would suit me."
Lori chuckled and pulled out a simple skirt, an old peasant blouse, and a belt. “I hope these will fit you well enough. Till we next make port and can buy you something better suited.” she commented, grabbing a spare pair of boots as well. “Here, my love, try them on.”
Ellie grinned and took the clothes in her arms, setting them on Lorelei's bed before slipping into them. The pants fit fine, and the shirt was slightly big. The belt helped with that, though. And she slipped the boots on, which were also too big, but she couldn't be more proud of her new appearance. She was a pirate!
Lori beamed at how her dear Ellie looked in those clothes and nodded. “Perfect. As always, my love. You look like you've been on the seas for a long time.” she complimented before getting dressed herself. Nothing near as “fancy” as what she wore when she came to rescue Ellie, but perhaps a bit better fitting.
Ellie laughed shortly. "I doubt that my darling, but thank you anyway. You, however, look ravishing. Shall we be off?"
Lori chuckled softly and held her arm out to Ellie. “Yes, let's go. I'm sure the rest of the crew is already in the galley waiting for us.” she smiled.
Ellie slipped her arm through and tugged her partner closer. "We wouldn't want to keep them for too long, now would we?" she remarked, waiting for Lorelei to lead her to the galley.
“No, we wouldn't.” Lori smiled back, holding Ellie steady as she lead the way back down to the galley.
Sure enough, the rest of the crew was already seated at the small wooden table. But they had left two seats next to each other empty for them.
“Ah, glad you made it.” Charlie smiled as she poured everyone a drink. “I was almost worried I would have to send Tommy up with something for you two.” she teased, causing the others to chuckle.
Ellie sunk into her seat with a bemused grin. "Apologies for keeping you all waiting. I'm afraid I wanted to keep her to myself for a bit longer. Make up for some lost time. What have we missed?" She handled her words with light ease as she had been taught all her life.
Charlie smiled softly, impressed with how easily the former Princess handled her comment, while Lori was beaming as she took the seat beside Ellie.
“Oh, you haven't missed anything.” the cook assured. “The chicken needed a few more minutes anyway.”
“I’m assuming that’s what kept you and Tommy when we were anchored.” Lorelei teased.
Charlie nodded. “Afraid so. Those merchants always talk, trying to get a deal one way or another.” she shrugged.
Ellie listened and tilted her head to show that she was engaged and listening. Her posture was rigid, and her smile was soft.
Marcus raised a brow as he glanced over at her. “You know you can relax here, right?” he questioned. Before swiftly receiving a kick in the shins from Drake and Jax. Even Lori gave him a slight glare.
Ellie's smile faltered for a moment. "I am relaxed," she replied easily, setting her hand lightly on her partner's.
Lori sighed and held her hand. “I know you are. Marc just never met anyone higher ranking than a Captain before.” she explained. “Unless you count Jax’s time as a Lieutenant before I met him.” she added with a teasing smirk in Marc’s direction as she adjusted her posture to nearly match Ellie's.
Marcus blushed a little at the jest, not making eye contact with anyone as he took a drink.
“Very few of us have.” Charlie added as she brought the fresh chicken to the table.
Ellie laced their fingers together and maintained her soft smile. "It's alright, Marcus," she said easily before looking over at Jax. "You were a Lieutenant?"
She looked over at Charlie as she served the chicken. "Thank you," she acknowledged.
Marcus cleared his throat slightly and nodded thankfully at her.
“I hope you like it.” Charlie winked before going on to serve everyone else.
“Aye, I was.” Jax smiled proudly. “Joined t’e Navy when I was few years older than t’e lad there.” he said, gesturing briefly towards Tommy. “I grew up in a port town an’ t’e sea was always a big part of my life.”
Ellie nodded at Jax, very interested in his story. "Which Navy did you join?" she asked, taking a bite of the chicken. It was good, but not like what she was used to. But still. "And I understand the feeling. I could always see the ocean from my bed chambers. It's such a mystery to me. So vast and deep." She took another bite and lifted her delicate hand to cover her mouth as she chewed.
“It weren't ye’r father's if that's what ye mean.” Jax chuckled. “Different kingdom. Smaller too. Mostly a merchant navy. But I was happy.” he smiled. “I was even commanding Lieutenant of t’e ship I was on before t’e storm hit.”
But the whole crew smiled when she told them of her own attraction to the seas.
“It wasn't just because our Captain was sent out all those years ago?” Marcus asked curiously.
Ellie gave a good-natured laugh in return, but she squeezed Lori's hand under the table at the mention of her parting. "Of course that had a lot to do with it," she said slowly, choosing her words with care. "But I've always wanted to travel the seas and explore the world. All the continents and cities… and I prayed to the gods of the earth, wind, sun, and sea that my lass would make it home safe to me again." She reached up and touched her fingertips to the locket around her neck that had their song inside.
Lorelei returned the gesture and gently kissed Ellie's cheek. “And I did. Now we can travel to the ends of the earth together.” she smiled.
“But there were a few times when our Captain got in more trouble than she could handle.” one of the twins commented as they shared a smirk.
"The ends of the earth," Ellie repeated, her eyes glistening at the thought. Then she blinked and looked incredulously at Lori "What on earth is he talking about?" she demanded. "What kind of trouble?"
Lori rolled her eyes at the comment, letting out a sigh as she nodded. “Ok, yes. Every once in a while but it's… Getting it into trouble just comes with being a pirate sometimes.” she explained. “Besides, with my crew, I don't stay in much trouble for long.”
Ellie nodded in acknowledgment at the answer, but the corner of her lip pulled up slightly in amusement. "True, my love, but you haven't answered my question."
Lori smiled and kissed Ellie again. “Hard to say. There's been a fair number of adventures where I got into some kind of trouble.” she admitted with a casual shrug. “Not everyone likes pirates.”
“That's true.” Marcus laughed. “But don't worry. This crew doesn't leave anyone behind.”
Ellie grinned immediately when Lorelei kissed her. Her eyes shone with adoration – she was desperately in love with the other woman. But the adoration blended with worry.
"You're careful though, are you not?" she asked quietly. "I couldn't bear it if anything happened to you." She lifted her gaze and panned across the room full of now-familiar faces. "Or any of you."
“As careful as we can be.” Lori nodded. “There are times when we have to take risks but nothing that we can't handle.” she assured with a calm smile. “Nothing is going to happen. Not that you're here.”
The crew was also very touched by Ellie's concern for them.
“Don't worry about us.” Marc smiled. “We've been doing this for quite a while now.”
“We’ll protect you, Miss Ellie.” Tommy spoke up softly but sincere in his promise.
Ellie nodded at her lover’s words, assured for the time being that her new life would be relatively safe. She sighed with relief. “Then that is all I can ask for,” she said gently, lifting Lori’s hand to her lips and placing a soft kiss on her knuckles. “My brave pirate.”
To the others, she dipped her head and smiled respectfully. “And I trust that you watch out for each other. It’s evident in the way that you simply care.”
She turned her gaze to Tommy with a warm smile. “Thank you,” she said quietly, bowing her head to him. “Though I’m praying I won’t need much protection.”
(I hope you know that I fucking love Tommy, and if anything happens to him during this rp, I will cry ♡)
Lori couldn't help but blush softly at the kiss. “My love. My true treasure.” she smiled lovingly back.
“Aye. We always watch out for each other. And of course we care.” Charlie nodded. “Not something many crews like ours can say, I’m sure.” she added with a chuckle.
Tommy blushed brightly but nodded back before picking up his cup and hiding behind it.
(I’m glad you do! I sure hope nothing happens to him. I’d probably cry too. Fortunately, Charlie is protective of him.)
"It's not something many people can say," Ellie mumbled quietly, thinking of her life before today. Her cheeks turned pink at Lori's words. "My darling, you think of me too highly," she whispered, winking at Tommy.
The crew agreed with the softly spoken statement, but were polite enough not to comment on her meaning.
Lori chuckled at the blush and kissed Ellie's cheek. “I could say that you don't think highly enough of yourself.” she argued gently.
Tommy's blush grew as he took another sip of his drink. He was starting to see why the Captain liked Miss Ellie so much.
