i just thought of the most heartbreaking dnd character. he's in the curse of straud and if you want me to tell you about him just ask.

in barovia there is this old man who people think is older then the devil himself they only know him as uncle issac. he has visited every character when they were children and always has a smile on his face and always made people happy and was seen as the last light of barovia. but recently he's been reclusive and when people try to talk to him they find his door magically locked and he says that he will only speak to the heroes of barovia. when the players go to his house he hurries them in and he is relieved to be an angel of light that was trapped by this curse and that he doesn't have much time but he then recognizes every character and tells them of their past and how he got to meet them. but when he spreads his wings, what would usually have been holly light was nothing but spectral decayed wings. "i remember all of you and i will remember you forever… i know you'll break this curse and free everyone… please…" his once holy light brought low to a spark of what it once was. as he dies he gives the party a gift, it's a stone that will cure any and all curses that the party has and makes them immune to any curses for 2 d4+2 days.

this may not actually be that sad but when i thought about him i cried my eyes out.
