Anna sat and listened intently, taking little notes on a pad of paper by her hand. Surely, if he was telling the truth, she would get the full story again – hopefully with more relevant details for her use – from the transcript that the detective agency would send her.
Her lip curled with slight disgust as she came face-to-face with the soles of his expensive-looking shoes. "Get your feet off of my desk, Mr. Lane." She drew in a sharp breath, his unfortunate stench filling her nose. "And I am not a lawyer, I am an attorney." Fortunately for him, Anna's self-control wouldn't let her say anything more.
