asra sat, taking a deep breath. "i want everyone to tell me what you have found wrong within the clans."
asra sat, taking a deep breath. "i want everyone to tell me what you have found wrong within the clans."
(boop)
(Sorry, I just don't know what to do here, lol.)
Saffron stays silent, waiting. Indeed, he has.
asra waited " I will fix the problems here. just let me help, "he offered
Saffron nods and stands. "I, for one, stand with Kuranparagon. Kuranshēdo has spoken."
She sits back down.
About half the other clans stand and say the same thing. The rest stay seated, looking sullen and hostile.
asra looked to saffron. he shakily took a breath " im new… its different and change isnt something taken lightly. but my mate is dying, hes in a bed right now not waking up when i beg and plead. i cant let his name fall. if i have to go through some kind of test or some kind of trust fall i promise i will. im going to try my damnedest to earn your trust. im not as big or as fierce as alex but im just as loyal. please, let me try before you hand your judgement" asras eyes glowed a burning red as he poured his emotions into his words.
The rest drop their eyes. Then the largest of them stands. "Brave, kind, true words, Kuranparagon. But how do we know you can hold each clan in check?"
" would you like a show of power?"
"It is not a question of power. All of us still here know Kuranparagon is powerful. We are speaking of your ability to lead us, and form compromises. Your ability to use diplomacy." the vampire says.
Saffron sighs.
"that is the term i meant. i have no intention of fighting if i do not have to. each person here has their own views on this world and their leader. if you have something to say im going to listen, the first person who takes that to a physical offence will be dealt with by trial of vote. evidence will be presented and seen among the other clans. there is no one person making decisions anymore. the clans work together "
The vampire looks surprised. "We've tried demcracy before. Why would it work now?"
Saffron finds herself nodding, but stands up. "We can give it a try once more. Paragon had a weak leader then, and the clans were getting too ambitious. Maybe now, something is different."
" we need to try if were going to succeed. you dont walk if you dont crawl."
The vampire shrugs. "Okay. All in favor?"
He, along with Saffron and most of the others, raise their hands. He grins.
"Well okay then!"
asra smiles proudly wait until alex sees.. he thought to himself. asra was home in minutes, ready to curl up to his alpha.
The rest of the council breaks, talking amongst themselves about Asra. Words like Crazy were thrown around a lot, but among that could be heard Amazing. Simply astounding. and He's the only one to have succeeded in that in a* long time.
Saffron is grinning and calls after Asra: "You did it. You son of a bitch, you did it."
Alex still sleeps.
asra changed into bed clothes, talking away to alex, even if he didnt respond. after a bit to eat and something he hated doing most he finally curled up to his alpha " their proud of me.."
Asra's words penetrate, even if Alex can't wake up. He's stuck like this, he knows. He knows his time is coming to an end. Or at least, it should be. Slowly, Alex becomes aware of a questing presence in his mind. He asks it Who are you?
It gives no response, other than to send an image of an old, old statue. A statue of Paragon herself. Alex grins. Well hello. I don't suppose I'm coming back, am I?
Paragon sends a feeling of confirmation, and Alex nods. Thought so. Send Asra my love.
Slowly, his mind fades as Paragon herself took over.
asras hand was tightly held in alexs, tears streaming down his face "wont you wake up? please?" he begged
Alex, or rather Paragon, opens their eyes slowly. Instead of their usual pale gold, his eyes are a deep, deep reddish brown, and have an unnatural light to them. It takes her eyes a moment to adjust, and then she looks over.
"Alex sends his love, Asra Snow." she says, her voice at once different from Alex's. While Alex's voice had been a low tenor, hers was a high, clear soprano. As she looks down, she nods with satisfaction: she'd been able to take over completely. Her body was her own instead of Alex's. She slowly stands up with a fluid, silvery grace.
"wha… ?" he tears up, "hey! hey! " he was crying now "NO! he's not leaving me!"
Paragon smiles gently, and recites a passage from the long forgotten Book of Night. "'And so, when the last light fades, the last of the last shall leave, and the first of the first shall come.' It was foretold when I was made, Asra Snow. And in my time, such prophecies would, will, come true. And my time has come again. We leave immediately. We summon the Council."
She strides away, drawing attention from the surrounding humans, as she was clothed in a simple black peplos, trimmed with red, with black leather sandals on her feet.
asra was confused and sobbing. he shakily typed out the message and followed her
Reaching the Council chamber, she remains standing while everyone else mumurs and takes their places.
"Welcome one, welcome all. I, Alix Paragon, am back, as the Book of Night foretold. Our time is coming to an end, people. We've known this for a long time. But we've chosen to remain complacent and bitter."
"Too proud to set aside petty clan rivalries." she says, directing this to an old, white haired vampire.
"Too scared to stand up for yoursself." she says, to a younger looking vampire near the and of the table.
"And most of all, too powerful to let anyone else lead." she says, directing this to those who were in Kuranparagon.
"That ends. We stand together, or die apart. There is no other ending for us." she murmurs.
Each of the vampires she'd addressed looked shaken. One stands up, the one who'd challenged Asra before. "And how do we know you are who you say you are, Paragon?"
She gives the man a cold smile. "You know in your heart of hearts, Mr. Christain Hansett."
The man, Christain, looks pale, and sits down hard.
asra hid his face in his arms, too upset to even register what was happening. hed lost his mate. hed lost Alex. asra didn't care anymore if the clans left him behind or gave enough to carry him. he just wanted to be left alone.
Alix then turns to Asra. "I know how you feel, Asra. Truly, I do. But do not give up. Do not let yourself waste away. Alex would not have wanted that."
"Alex isn't here anymore. don't tell me how he's supposed to feel!"
Alix stands, raising herself to her full 6'7" of height. "You know how he would feel, though. You were the only person he's loved. And I know the same thing goes for you, Asra Snow."
asra turned his head, not daring to look at her " your only saying that because you took him away from me.."
Alix looks a little annoyed. "Stop acting like a child. Fight for your life in the name of those you love and have lost. Do you think Alex would be sitting around, moping? No, he wouldn't. So emulate him. Cherish the time you had with him. Keep his memory with you to warm you when the world feels cold. Honor his memory."
asra gave a growl, walking out of the room.
