"Not really. It's interesting to read older 'fantasy' stories from before it was commonplace for people to have powers, though." Eiji shrugged. "I'll read just about anything, though. You?"
"Not really. It's interesting to read older 'fantasy' stories from before it was commonplace for people to have powers, though." Eiji shrugged. "I'll read just about anything, though. You?"
"I'm afraid most of my reading has been academic books – runes, incantations, spells, alchemy and such…" Farah listed. "But in my free time, I suppose I fancy a fictional read."
"You could buy some books at a bookstore if you wanted to bring them back to your world." Eiji suggested. "You can only borrow these ones, so that wouldn't work, but if you bought them it would be fine."
Farah's eyes widened. "That's a brilliant idea! I can't believe I didn't think of that, and I could show you the library at Alfea. I'm not sure if you'd have some of the books we have… do you have any runes books here?"
Eiji flushed lightly at the praise and looked back down at his book. "U-Um… I think we might have something like that in the language section, but I'm not sure… it's not something I've looked into before."
"Runes, alchemy, history of magic," Farah listed off. "Those are just a few of the topics in Alfea's library. I've read lots of them. Not exactly page turns, but they've helped with my incantations."
Eiji nodded a bit. "Yeah… most magic here doesn't need to be verbal. There's a couple, but for the most part, rune books would just be for people who are interested in them…"
"Our magic is non-verbal as well, but sometimes, the more powerful spells require incantations," Farah explained. "Runes I read for fun… Ben reads the alchemy books, and Saul…" She laughed quietly. "Saul doesn't read much. I've tried."
Eiji laughed softly. "Yeah, I feel that. For the life of me, I can't find anything that Aiki will read willingly. They just can't sit still for long enough to read much of anything."
Farah nodded and laughed a bit as well. "Saul is the exact same way. I gave him an alchemy book once, for class, and I came back about ten minutes later, and he was asleep!"
Eiji nodded with a soft smile. "Yeah… Aiki's not good at sitting still." He yawned and stretched. "Or focusing. Thank god they're good at their practical classes."
"Well, practicals are indeed much more fun," Farah remarked. "Our practicals are a bit different at Alfea than they are here, but they do involve sparring."
"Yeah, that's true… my course doesn't really do a ton of sparring, to be honest." Eiji sighed. "We do occasionally, of course, but the healing/support course students aren't really trained for fighting."
"Most mind fairies usually perform in support roles as well," Farah remarked. "I'm one of the few who doesn't since my abilities are more adept at fighting. That and I learned other elements to help me."
Eiji nodded in understanding. "I don't think it's possible to use my power for fighting. I could theoretically drain someone's energy to heal myself or someone else, but… I dunno. I'm a healer. Aiki's the one with the offensive power."
"So why don't you two fight together?" Farah asked. "You could be behind Aiki, healing him as he fights."
"We do sometimes… that's kinda why we keep the support students in the area while Aiki's course trains. We're there for… well, support in fighting as well as healing."
"I mean at the same time, though," she corrected herself. "You stay on the side, waiting for something to happen. What if you were out there with him in the heat of the moment."
"I dunno… maybe." Eiji sighed softly. "I could broach it to one of the teachers. It could be good practice for when we're older. Aiki and I typically work together fairly well."
"As expected. Siblings have a tight bond. There is a pair of siblings at Alfea who are the best in their class," Farah remarked. "A Specialist and a fairy. They're really brilliant together."
Eiji nodded with a tired smile. "Our powers complement each other well, but Aiki can be difficult to work with at times. We're working on cooperation, at least when it's necessary."
"Saul is the same way," Farah again agreed. "We have much in common, don't we?" she remarked with a gentle smile to counter his tired one.
"Yeah, I guess we do… Aiki's been lost a while." Eiji remarked, looking around for his missing brother. "I'm sure they'll stumble upon us eventually."
Farah chuckled. "It'll be alright. We won't leave without him." She looked down at the books Eiji had placed in her arms. "And what do you suggest that I start with?"
Eiji nodded a bit and turned back to Farah. "Um… probably this one. It covers the basics pretty well." He pointed to a book in the stack with a worn red cover.
Farah nodded and set the books down on a table. "Excellent. Well, I'll leave you to whatever you'd like to read then." She smiled warmly at him before sliding the red book easily out of the stack, seating herself, and opening it up to the first page.
Eiji smiled back and sat down at a nearby table to read whatever it was that he was holding at the moment. He stayed quiet, seeming content to just stay in his own world for a while. Aiki was still lost somewhere in the library.
Farah was instantly intrigued. Every so often, she'd look up to ask Eiji a question about the book's content, but other than that, she was silent and intent on her reading.
Eiji answered the questions compliantly without looking up from his book. He was very familiar with the history of his world, after all, so the questions weren't too difficult for the most part. Somewhere in the library, Aiki called out to try and find them and was shushed by the librarian.
Farah looked up at the call that came from Aiki, and she laughed quietly at the "shhh" that followed. "Should we go look for him?" she asked, smirking at Eiji.
