"No," Farah said decidedly. She rose to her feet and held her hand out. "If you don't take it, I'll simply pull you." She arched her eyebrows and knowingly smiled.
"No," Farah said decidedly. She rose to her feet and held her hand out. "If you don't take it, I'll simply pull you." She arched her eyebrows and knowingly smiled.
Aiki reluctantly took Farah's hand, his ears still turned back. They were clearly uneasy and hesitant. "Farah, I-I don't know if this is a good idea…"
Farah let go of Aiki's hand once they were up and began to walk at a slow pace, giving them time to talk before they reached Oukami. "You're going to be fine. Just focus on what you want to say to him."
"I-I don't… know what I want to say. I don't have anything prepared!" Aiki whined, hurrying after Farah as they fidgeted nervously with their hands.
"Well, what do you want to tell him?" Farah asked, maintaining her evenly slow pace. "Have some idea of what you want to say, but don't force it out. Let the conversation flow naturally."
"I just… I dunno! I come up with something to say to him and then my mind goes blank as soon as I go up to him!" Aiki insisted.
"You've got this!" Farah enthused. "Just try."
Oukami noticed them and Aiki froze up, not entirely sure what to do. They still hadn't come up with anything to say. "Uh… hello?" Oukami said awkwardly. Aiki glanced up at Farah before he finally blurted something out. "I— um… I think you're hot?" Oukami blinked a couple times, clearly not having processed any of that. "Uh… okay. Thanks?" Oukami's friends snickered and Aiki immediately left the situation with their red face buried in their hands.
Farah's eyes went wide at the surges of emotions around her, but she was quick to follow Aiki as he hurried off. "Aiki!"
Aiki's heart was racing and their face was completely red, and he looked mortified. When Farah called his name, they only picked up their pace.
Farah shook her head and adopted a low jog to catch up with him. "Aiki, wait!"
Aiki glanced over his shoulder, their ears flattened back again. They kept moving, though, wanting to get as far away from Oukami as possible.
"Would you stop running?" Farah called.
"Nooooo…!" Aiki called back, running until they were at the wall where they'd been before.
As much as she wanted to use her magic to make him stop, Farah didn't. When they reached the wall, she slowed her pace and approached cautiously. "Are you done?"
Aiki whined and hit his head against the wall repeatedly, clearly kicking themself for being such a moron. "God, I can't believe I said that to him… it's a nightmare, right? I didn't actually?"
Farah swiped her hand quickly and used her magic to pull Aiki away from the wall. "Don't hit your head!" she cried. "Are you insane? You could hurt yourself."
"Yeah, that's the point. I'm so stupid…" Aiki buried their face in their hands, trembling lightly where he stood.
"No, you aren't!" Farah objected. "You were brave! I'm proud of you!"
"I'm not brave! I'm an idiot! He probably thinks I'm super weird now!" Aiki whined. "I feel like I'm gonna throw up…"
"You are not an idiot!" Farah stated firmly.
"How am I not an idiot? I just told my crush out of the blue that I think he's hot and now he probably actually hates me and his friends think I'm stupid too a-and I can't ever face him again and…" Aiki was panicking now, trembling and struggling to breathe.
Farah gently touched Aiki's arm. She wasn't going to say anything else until he calmed down.
Aiki took a while to start settling down, and he was still pretty jittery even when they could breathe a little better.
"Breathe," Farah said simply. "Just catch your breath."
Aiki whimpered softly, closing his eyes as he trembled. "I… I-I'm sorry…" They whispered.
"You're alright," Farah murmured. She made sure to keep her voice and touch gentle. "It's okay."
"I feel sick…" Aiki grabbed onto Farah's hand, closing his eyes and exhaling shakily. "I need… need to sit down… sorry…"
"Alright, let's sit," Farah said, guiding Aiki over to a bench and letting herself sit.
Aiki sat down beside Farah and looked down at their trembling hands, taking a few deep breaths to try and relax.
