"That's concerning…but he'll survive…! This has happened to you before… Surely he'll make it through this….!"

shuichi just cried. " i.. i cant lose him!"

Kokichi hugged him. "You won't lose him… Kaito is strong… I'm sure he'll make it through this.."

" i.. i cant.."

"You won't lose him, Shuichi…"

shuichi heard the ambulance.

"See? The ambulance is here now… Kaito is going to be helped…"

" i- " he couldnt stop crying

"Shuichi Saihara, look at me…" Kokichi was trying to calm his friend. "He will be okay… They're not gonna let him die.."

" okay.." he let the medics take over, leaning into kokishi

Kokichi held Shuichi close to him. "Kaito will survive this, I promise.."

" i- i know.."

"All that's left to do is wait…" Kokichi sighed. He was unsure how it would turn out, but he had to convince Shuichi that it'd be okay.

shuichi kept crying..

Kokichi held onto the other for hours upon hours at they waited for an update… Eventually, they got a call about it.

"Shuichi, answer your phone. It's an update on Kaito…"

shuichi grabbed his phone ' helo?"

"Hello. We have contacted you as you are the first person on our patient's contact list. We would like to inform you that, while still in critical condition, he has been stabilized. He is beginning to recover, and it will take a while, but we hope to get him back home in a week or two. As long as no complications arise, that will be the case. You may come see him."

"thank..thank you.." he said softly

"Of course. You can come see him whenever you're ready." The call ended.

Kokichi looked at Shuichi. "I assume he's alive."

" yeah, barley.."

"He'll be okay, right…?"

" im hoping so.."

"Well, he's alive, so surely he will be…"

shuichi stayed in kokishis arms

"Why don't you get some sleep, Shu…? I know you're tired.. You were up all night crying… After you sleep, we can visit him.. It'll be okay, and I've got you…"

shuichi nodded, relaxing a bit and slowly falling asleep.

Kokichi held the other close as he slept, letting hours pass without waking him. He'd let Shuichi wake up when he was ready, knowing that if Kaito was awake, he'd want his husband to be okay..

shuichi woke some time later, holding tightly to the other.

"Hey, you're up." Kokichi smiled a bit. "I hope you're doing better now that you've slept for a good eight hours.."
