Shuchi smiled and leaned on the other. He was exhausted from crying.

"You get some sleep, Shu. I'll be here as long as you need me, and if we get an update on Kaito, I'll let you know. Just sleep, okay?"

Shuiki nodded, falling asleep on kokichi

The next day soon came, Kokichi remaining where he was even hours later.. Things were rather calm..

Shuichi stayed asleep as long as possible.

Eventually, Kokichi woke the other up after receiving an update on Kaito. "Hey, Shu..we finally got an update.." He smiled ever so slightly. "They said Kaito's going to be okay. He's in much better condition, and they said that if he keeps improving, he'll be able to come home possibly tomorrow."

Shuichi smiled " I'm glad!"

"We can visit him once you get ready. I'm sure he'd like to see you."

Shuichi nodded and went to the bedroom, changing into some of the others looser clothes.

Kokichi waited for the other to get dressed, remaining in the living room as he did so.

Shuichi came out, the others shirt hanging off his shoulder.

"Now that you're dressed, let's go!" Kokichi took the other's hand and rushed out of the house. "Things are thankfully better."

Shuichi ran as fast as he could " slow down!"

Kokichi slowed down after that. "I just got a bit excited since things are okay."

Soon enough, the two were in Kaito's room. The other had regained consciousness since the previous day's events, though he was asleep at the time they entered.

Shuichi put his hand in the others, waiting patiently

After a couple of hours had passed, Kaito began to wake up."

Shuichi kept his head on the bed, relaxing peacefully

Kaito looked at the other as he woke up. "Oh, Shuichi.. When did you get here?"

" ? oh, a while ago.." he said and yawned

"Well, I'm glad you're here.." He smiled a bit before sighing. "I know it's out of my control, but I'm sorry that this happened…"

" as said, it wasn't your fault."his voice was still raspy from crying

"Shuichi…" Kaito looked at the other. He felt terrible about everything. "Even so…I'm sorry.. You shouldn't have had to go through something like this… On the bright side..at least I'll most likely be able to go home tomorrow, so it'll all be okay.." His optimism still found a way to shine through.

shuichi gave a soft smile " yeah," he sad and squeezed kaitos hand. he looked over at kokichi..

"Well, seeing as the lovers have been reunited, I'm gonna go." He smiled a bit. "You can always call me when you need me." He left the room, not wanting to make things awkward..

"I didn't even know he was here…" Kaito watched as Kokichi left before looking at Shuichi. "Anyways, I'm just glad things are gonna be okay.. However, there is a problem…" He sighed. "If you have work, seeing as it's gonna be a while before I can do much on my own, just given my condition, what am I supposed to do? I don't want to either ignore my needs or worsen my condition trying to tend to them.."

"shadow will be there if anything happens. and this," he held out a small braclet. " it detects if you fall, it will alert me and medics that your down and well come running. "

"I'm glad you came up with a solution to this." He took the bracelet from Shuichi. "If anything happens when you're not around, just remember that I will never think you abandoned me.. Hopefully nothing like this happens again, but it's hard to say…"

However, someone was following Shuichi, following the detective, plotting his demise. When the other wasn't looking, he pulled out his gun. Within the next couple of seconds, gunshots were heard, but before anyone could do anything, Shuichi was pierced by the bullets, and then nothing.. As the area was put into a panic, the assailant made his escape…
