Serenity giggles. You really don't think I see it, Ali?
"And you just figured that out, huh?" she snarks, a true smile crossing her lips. "And yeah, I like you too." She leans in closer, smelling Ali's shampoo. Mmmmm… vanilla. Damn, I'm thinking about cookies now.
Ali grins, practically leaning on her shoulder. She watches the buildings go by outside, as the car turns through the street to the school campus.
“I can’t believe we found each other.” She said plainly. it’s like… the sun is also a star… she thinks. two people meet, and all this happens, in the same day. the car slows and Ali groans once she realizes she has to get up.
Serenity sighs and leans back against Ali, just idly twirling a curly strand of her hair around a finger,
"Me either." she replies, startled out of her reverie. When the car slows, she sighs and groans.
"But I'm comfy here…" she whines, while still moving to get out of the car.
The driver turns around. "get out, and maybe I won't make you pay double for what I just had to go through." Ali gets the message and opens the door, jumping out as quickly as possible, and holding it for Serenity. "You have to be freezing now." She remarks, trying not to stare at Serenity's figure.
"Oh, shut it." Serenity says to the driver, tossing him a twenty as a tip. She gets out, then shuts the door behind her, now directly in front of Ali.
"Nah, this is perfect." she replies, definitely staring at Ali. "You're forgetting, I lived in the MidWest for a long time."
Ali can’t help herself now, she’s looking Serenity up and down, then smiles at the remark. “Alright, alright. Guess I’ll have to live with you being so hot all the time and me being so cold.” She chuckles lightly, trying to find her keys. “Ah, I swore they were in here…” she grumbles, digging in her pockets
Serenity grins. "Yeah, I suppose you will."
She notices Ali looking for her keys and puts a hand on hers, stopping her.
"I've got the door." she says, digging through her own pockets and grabbing her keys, unlocking the door and holding it for Ali.
Ali smiles, blushing a bit, then heads into the room, collapsing on the couch. "Do you wanna have the first shower?" She asks, draped across the sofa.
"That depends," Serenity replies, laughing at Ali's casual posture on the sofa. "On many things."
She knows that this will turn Ali red again, which is exactly why she said it.
Ali, just like Serenity expected, turned a deep shade of red. "o-oh. umm." She sits up, staring at Serenity. God, what do I do?? "Uhm.. I mean.. I-If…" She trails off, eyes focused on Serenity.
Serenity laughs. Yup! Thought so.
She turns and walks away, going to the shower and closing the door behind her, giving one last glance back. She's only in there for ten minutes, then walks out with a towel wrapped around her hair and body, and sits down on the floor in front of Ali.
Ali sighs, internally a little disappointed that Serenity had left so soon. She smiles, watching as Serenity sits in front of her, then stands, twirling a finger through her hair. "Guess it's my turn now." She says shyly, slowly inching toward the bathroom.
Serenity watches her carefully, then laughs and gets up.
"Yeah, I definitely know this effect." she grins, looking carefully at Ali's face, knowing she really, really has a bad idea. Serenity decides to test Ali. Giving her a cat-like grin, she saunters right up to Ali, and kisses her on the lips.
Ali stares in horror, face turning a very unhealthy shade of red as she darts quickly into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her. She takes shallow breaths, unsure if what just happened really happened. She closes her eyes, sitting on the floor and pulling her knees to her chest.
Serenity chuckles. Thought so.
She decides to get some clothes on, and puts in her headphones, getting on her comfy pajamas.
Ali shakily takes a shower, sighing as the warm water washes the sand and salt out of her hair. He can't help but think of what would happen if Serenity was next to her… She shakes her head, splashing her face with water, and pouring some shampoo into her hair. "What the hell is wrong with me…" She says to herself, thinking about the kiss.
Serenity, meanwhile, is starting to think that maybe she shouldn't have done that. Wait, what if I just ruined what we had? What if I was reading her wrong the whole time? What if… The what-ifs keep on coming, and she turns up the music to drown them out. She flops down on her bed, staring up at the bed above her.
Ali sighs, wrapping a towel around her wet skin and ruffling her hair. She looks in the clouded mirror, drawing on it with her finger until she can see her face. She looks down, then opens the door carefully, watching Serenity with her headphones on again. Oh good. She thinks, quickly taking off the towel and getting dressed while Serenity isn't looking.
Serenity, having been waiting for Ali to appear, notices the bathroom door open, but doesn't look over, not sure if she should. When the door closes again, she sighs and looks over.
I wonder if she felt that way in the first place…
Ali pulls a bra on, throwing one of her old shirts on top. She sits in the chair under her bed, sighing as she checks her phone. She looks up to see Serenity looking at her, then turns red, looking back down at her phone
"So…" Serenity says, slightly nervous. She looks down when Ali looks at her phone again. "Should I… apologise?"
Ali looks up, not daring to thook Serenity in the eyes. “I-It’s okay.” She says quietly, sighing
Serenity sighs as well. God above, I messed up…
"I- I messed up, didn't I?" she asks, hearing Ali shift and looking over at her.
Ali sighs. Not wanting to say anything. “I…” she starts, but trails off, staring at the fibers in the carpet
Serenity sighs again. Damn…
She gets up and puts on a pair of running shoes, putting her hair up in a messy bun. "I'm going out for a run. I'll be back… later." She leaves, and goes down to the beach and finds Ali's keys, pocketing them and planning on setting them with the rest of Ali's stuff.
Ali watches her leave, resting her head in her hands. Damn, I messed this up. she strides back over to the couch, turning on the TV and flipping through channels. But, she couldn't stop thinking about Serenity. I made her feel so bad…
Serenity, after a couple minutes of staring at the waves, puts her headphones back in and drowns out her thoughts in music. She runs around the entire school campus about 5 times, taking as long a route as possible to make sure Ali's in bed when she gets back.
Ali sighs, settling on the real housewives of Los Angeles. She leans forward, putting her head in her hands. I wonder where she went? She thinks, thoughts racing almost as fast as Jeanette White's accusations.
Serenity, finally, starts heading back to the dorms, tired and sweaty. She goes straight to the bathroom and cleans herself up, letting the water wash over her. Eventually, she feels the water start to cool considerably and gets out, sitting on the floor.
Ali watches, feeling even more terrible. She sighs as she settles deeper into the sofa, making sure there’s room for Serenity too. I can’t mess up again. I just can’t.
