"This shouldn't be the regular, though. It isn't safe." Lorenzo repeated. "I know this is what you're used to, but that doesn't make it okay."

“ I know it's not okay, trust me I do. But I can't stand up to him. I have no proof. He's doing in training courses so it's just ‘fair play’ in the eyes of the elites. “

Lorenzo sighed again. "Well, at what point are you even allowed to stop? Are you just expected to put up with this sort of treatment forever?"

“ until I reach an elite level rank.” he said softly “ about a year from now..” he mumbled and looked at the ground. Cyrus usual bright blue eyes were masked with a bit of tears

Lorenzo scratched the back of his neck, considering. He was clearly conflicted. "There's some sorts of magic that might be able to help protect you, but… not entirely. It's hard to know how to help."

“ I wish I could help but I'm not experienced in much else then bending elements” he said softly

"Yes, I know. I've dabbled at least a little in most areas… protection magic is difficult to configure. Especially something subtle enough that your father would draw up to skill rather than magic."

“ so basically I'll be busy these next few days. “ he said with a raised eyebrow

"I suppose so, but I never said I wasn't helping. What do you think would work best for you?" He asked. "As far as what kind of protection, anyway."

“ something that's going to strengthen my archain to water but not stress my body or stamina.” he said

"Well, I'm thinking more of something that'll prevent you from getting hurt so much." Lorenzo replied, humming thoughtfully. "Like a simple protection spell, but find some way to make it less obvious or visible."

“ Sounds like a plan then” he said softly and grabbed a bottle of water, he opened the cap and used the water to half-ass heal himself.

"I'll have to do some research. I'd recommend you do a bit yourself as well." Lorenzo watched Cyrus healing himself. "Is Corbin home alone right now?" He asked.

“ no, I asked him to go see Johnathan company “ he said and put the water back in it's bottle

"Alright, that's good… I'm sure Nathaniel's glad to see him. And it's best if Corbin isn't alone what with all that's been happening lately." Lorenzo sighed softly.

“ yeah, he's just commingg out of that cold.” he mumbled

Lorenzo nodded a bit. "Yes, but he's also had a string of rough luck since he's a crow. That's why you've been assigned to guard him. Do you even get paid for that?"

“Nope. I get paid by his love for me.” he said sweetly. He always seemed a bit happier talking about corbin, no matter how bad he was hurting.

Lorenzo sighed softly. "That's great and all, but considering this guard thing is essentially a full time job that you're not getting paid for, how are you expected to support yourself? And Corbin; he doesn't really make that much."

“ I get paid for each training regiment I pass. It's about six brand each. There's not a whole lot of blue and left that are willing to protect crows. Let alone fight. “

“ were paid to get the shit beat out of us for a stupid medal”

"That's awful. And the government and stuff is all totally okay with this? This is different than the military. It's inhumane."

Cyrus glanced at him. “ which would you rather have, someone to soft to protect corbin or someone who can take a beating and still get back up for more?” he huffed a bit “ that's how the government sees it”

"I think we should do something about crows being targeted so they don't need to be guarded in the first place." Lorenzo scoffed. "You'd think that people might actually want to put some effort into ending that."

“ …” corbin thought for a moment. “ there more worried about the strength of the nation rather then the feelings. Though you'd make a good caption.”

"Crows are just ordinary people. There's no reason that they should be targeted to the point of needing personal guards everywhere they go." Lorenzo sighed a bit, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I hate seeing these sorts of things happening to my son because of… what? His wings? We all have wings, who the hell cares? It's ridiculous. He deserves better."

“ I'm trying to give him something better. “ he said and looked to the sky. “ I only hope I can do it. It's the same dream my mom had, to end the hate between breeds and the hierarchy. She was killed ya know. Or at least I think so. All hummingbirds can survive falling back first, I can too, but when my dad came home and said she died from falling on her back I knew it was a lie..”

"The problem is, nothing can get done unless enough people rally together to do it, and I can't forsee that happening anytime soon. Just having a few people supporting a cause isn't enough to fix anything." Lorenzo was quiet for a bit. "Society is horrible like that, and there's only so much we can do about it."

“ Yeah. “ he mumbled Cyrus felt the cold breeze blow against his skin. He took a deep breath and smiled softly.

"You should probably be getting back now. We can pick up Corbin from our place on the way." Lorenzo nodded a bit and started walking.
