Rose looks at Jacob, "What do you mean by 'difficult'? Like he won't let him leave the house difficult. Or your a bad kid difficult. Or you don't do enough around here difficult."

"Do I need to fight someone?" Kai asked Jacob. "Or should I kidnap him instead?"

"I'll help!" Rose told Kai.

"Nice! Teamwork is always a good strategy." Kai nodded approvingly.

Dawn frowned, forgetting about her food momentarily.

"It's nothing… harmful, is it?" she questioned softly.

Jacob laughs softly. "Mark normally stays with us when things with his mother gets difficult. Just don't let him know I told you. He's difficult to crack open, I'm just glad he has a group of people that care about him."

Rose frowned, "Why wouldn't he?"

She thought back to middle and high school where she was bullied for being hyperactive and ADHD.

Jacob looks towards the restroom. "He came to our place once. He was bruised…" he mutters softly. Jacob runs a hand through his hair, shaking his head.

"That's it. I'm gonna fight someone." Kai said, slightly disgusted and enraged, but keeping it on the down low.

Jacob sighs, "Mark won't accept help, trust me, I've tried. The best possibility is to work with him." he shrugs. Mark had exited the bathroom and was talking with one of the waiters cheerfully, letting out a loud belt of laughter.

"I'm fighting them too," any trace of Rose's carefree attitude had disappeared. Her face turned dark, "I don't care whether he wants me to or not."

Jacob goes quiet as his cousin returns to the table. Mark smiles, "Miss me?" he asks, chuckling softly.

"Yep!" Rose's smile returned as she looked at Mark.

"Heck yeah we did. We thought you might've fallen in or something!" Kai joked.

Mark splutters, a hand on his chest, "Fallen into a toilet?! I'm offended! I have much more grace than that." he says, smiling a bit.

"I'm sure you do my king." Kai half-bowed in his seat and almost ended up with his head in his fries.

Mark smiles, "Now, now, no need to faceplant, my little fire~" he teases.

"But, I must honor my king!" Kai laughed and throws a fry at him and sticks his tongue out before eating his own fry.

Mark laughs, sitting down and making a show of doing it. He gives his friends and cousin a cheeky smile.

Rose smiles, "You can sit down!"

Mark hums, taking a sip of lemonade that he must have snuck from the kitchens.

"Where did you get the lemonade?" Rose asked him. She ate another fry.

"Kitchen." he says, winking. He smiles, humming under his breath.

"The king is a sorcerer!" Kai exclaimed jokingly and poked a longer fry at Mark like a pretend dagger.

Mark grabs another fry "En garde!" he cries, wielding the fry.

"Witchcraft!" Rose smiled and laughed, "We must kill the king!"

"No! Why would you kill such a deviously handsome king?!" he cries, throwing his hands up in fake despair. Jacob laughs, "We must kill the king!"

Rose smirked at him, "Because he is a deviously handsome king. No one can be that good looking without magic!"

"Betrayed by my own people!" He sobs, placing the back of his hand on his forehead, "Oh the tragedy."

"Kinda poetic really." Kai chuckled.
