Jas shook his head "you're mostly right. But i did really enjoy the breakfast and the note. It was extremely sweet." He pressed another kiss to Connor's head. "I do admittedly eat more but I still really liked it. You didn't need to do that, especially if you were leaving for work but I did really like it, thank you, my precious bird." He looked up as Connor mentioned the clouds. "How fitting." He mumbled, rounding a large rock and gazing around at the small clearing of grass and flowers, in the center two old marble graves in the center of it all. Jas slowly took a few steps towards the grave. It was nicely decorated with flowers and seemingly meaningless trinkets. Meaningleas to anyone save for Jas. He smiled wobbily and slowly crouched down, silently brushing aside dirt and weeds from the graves until names were easily visible.
"Winston Hawthorne - 1845-1918. Liked by all he met, but loved, adored and cherished the most by his husband, Jasper Loveheart."
Beside Winston's grave sat a similar one,
"Jasper Loveheart - 1844-1922
Loved by the only person that mattered most. That was more than enough for all of eternity."
Has lightly brushed over the words before digging into his bag and found an ornate pocket watch. He gently set it among the collection of books and trinkets surrounding the grave. "Hello, my White rabbit, happy anneversary." He whispered softly, voice cracking as he finally let tears fall
"I am not a bird…" he elbowed his side lightly before walking upon the two graves. He watched Jas when a sad smile. He looked at the two graves and the timestamps. So he died after Winston…then how did he… Connor shook his head not wanting to think of things like that. His eyes grew soft from the nickname. He started to rub Jas's back hoping it would make him feel a little better. He refused the urge to cry by taking a deep breath. When other people cried he would cry as well. Soft droplets from the sky started to fall. He didn't know if he should say hi as well or wait for Jas to be done. Instead, he waited and kept his composure.
Jas tried his best to compose himself, not wanting to cry the entire time there. He glanced up when he felt Connor rub his back, giving him a grateful smile and gently tugging at his arm bring him down to the ground. "Connor, this is Winston," he genstured between him and the grave. "And Winston, this is Connor, the one I never shut up about." He chuckled lightly and let out breathy laugh as he blotted away his tears with his sleeve. His ears flicked up as rain began to fall but he didn't really mind as he settled into a more comfortable position in the grass. "I guess you were right, bunny. I found love again." He said softly, looking over at Connor. "I think you would have liked him. He's definitely more feisty than all those years ago but time does that to you. You should have seen him the other day, nearly crushed my heart with the glare he gave the poor cashier." He chuckled lightly, closing his eyes as he felt a light breeze against his face.
Connor kneeled down as well. He gave a breathy laugh from Jas's comments. "Hey, Winston. Don't worry he never talks about you too. Jas can be hard to pinpoint sometimes and even hard to handle, but I promise you left him in good hands. You probably know everything about him so there's nothing I can really say much, but…" He let his hand travel down to Jas's. Looking at him with an almost angelic smile, when some tears started to form under his eyes. "I know I can be hard to deal with at times and I know I may not be the best person considering how many times I hurt him, but I promise I'll take care of him. No matter what. Even if this kitty does something so reckless and stupid like he usually does and gets his ass thrown in jail again. Honestly it gets hard sometimes to have to bring the person you love in because of the craziness they do, but without him I can tell you it's not as fun." He leaned his head on Jas's shoulder analyzing the grave. "And Jas? You're not alone anymore okay?" He finished.
Jas gave soft smile and gently laced their hands together. He used his free hand to gently wipe away Connor's tear and gently pull him close into his lap. "Thank you my love. That means a lot to me and probably to Winston as well. I know he was always concerned with my antics so knowing someone like you is keeping me in check probably helps him rest a little easier." He laughed softly, resting his head in the crook of Connor's neck. "I'll try my best to be less… haphazard with my own safety." He said, offering a small smile and pressing a tender kiss to Connor's head "I was never alone, sweetheart. It's just now that I get to be with the person I want to be with the most, without needing to potentially murder someone." He winked and glanced up at Winston's grave. "Rest easy my precious rabbit. I'm safe and well loved. There's no need for you to worry." He murmured, wiping away tears again and gently squeezing Connor.
He laughed sniffling a bit. The rain had started to pour causing the tears on Connor's face to look like raindrops. He wasn't crying because of Jas, he was crying because he was frustrated that he couldn't feel sympathy. He was faking it, he felt like that was the best he could do. "Yeah, I don't want to have to save any more people from possibly getting killed." Connor squeezed him back running his fingers through Jas's hair. He planted a kiss on his forehead. "Let's get you home before we both catch a cold and I'll make a nice hot meal for the two of us to enjoy. Then we can sit on the couch and just relax. How does that sound?"
Has nodded with a smile, a weak purr of appreciation leaving him as Connor pet his hair. "Yeah, that sounds great right about now. He breathed in deeply, eyes rimmed with tears as he slowly stood and walked in front of the grave, resting a hand over the marble. "I miss you everyday but I promise you we'll see each other soon. I'll visit again soon, bunny." He pressed his brow to the stone, letting his remaining tears fall before straightening and gently leaving Connor's hand with his. "Oh, and You'll be very proud to know that I plan on learning to cook, no more burnt food anymore, I hope." He grinned with a laugh and wrapped Connor in his arms. "Let's go home, love." He murmured softly, closing his eyes and taking a step back, pulling Connor with him. When he opened his eyes they were standing in the middle of the living room.
Connor shook his head feeling his stomach bubble up. "I am never getting used to that." He rushed over to the garbage can throwing up the breakfast he had that morning. He was hunched over as his stomach caved in. He coughed slightly before shaking his head. "That felt awful." he groaned. "Do you want to take a shower first or me I only really have one the thing is I don't want you to wait for the food I want it to be ready by the time you come out of the shower." he wiped his mouth with the nearest napkin. He stuck out his tongue hating the bitter taste in his mouth.
Jas flinched and followed Connor to the trash as he immediately threw up. "Sorry about that love, I should have warned you." He chuckled lightly and gently ribbed Connor's back. "I wouldn't mind the wait, we can always shower later. Gives us a chance to cook together." He suggested with a small smile. "My poor creature, how is that you can handle jumping out of a building and flying but suddenly moving through time brings up your breakfast?"
"I didn't have lunch today, so it's kind of just in there." he coughed slightly. "Okay then I will go get some towel and I'll attempt to teach how to make something edible." His wet shoes clicked through the house as he got the towels he said he would. "Here use this." He placed the other towel that was in his free hand on the table while he went to go prepare the kitchen. "What do you want for dinner anything special or rather what do you want to make?" Connor looked out to the sky, turning on the lights. "It would've been nice to do this in the natural light. I hate turning on lights, but you need to see to cook." he mumbled. He ruffled his hair making sure it was dry and wiping off the excess water before continuing what he was doing.
Has tilted his head animalistically and looked at the towel Connor had given him. He followed Connor to the kitchen, "what am I supposed to do with this?" He asked, looking around curiously as Connor started working in the kitchen. "I'm not sure, maybe some soup? Something warm would be nice now that it's raining." He suggested, blinking rapidly as the lights were turned on.
"Ramen it is then." He looked over to Jas with a curious look but laughed anyway. "Get used to the light kitty. Are you not wet?" He questioned. He finished drying himself, tying his hair into a messy bun. He wasn't soaked but there were his hair gets wet easily and his skin was wet and cold as well. "Oh and please tell me you know the basic steps of making ramen and not the instant one either." He grabbed a pack of noodles that were in the fridge. it seemed to be a pretty big pack. Enough for the two of them. He let them sit on the counter while he got various things like sauces and vegetables to give it the flavor it needed.
"oh, I thought this was for cooking." He laughed softly and fired his hair and ears, causing both hair and fur to fluff up. He wrapped his arms around Connor's waist and rested his head on his shoulder. "You're so cute when you get serious." He pressed a kiss to his cheek. He sucked in a breath, about to proudly reply that he knew how to make the instant version of noodles before he clamped his mouth shut. "Ah, no…I don't." He chuckled embarrassingly and poked at the frozen ramen noodles.
He made a distorted hum when Jas's arms suddenly appeared around his waist. "Don't do that…at least warn me first and you really have no idea?" He watched him poke the noodles and sighed. He can be so hopeless sometimes. "One, stop poking the noodles we have to let them sit. Two, I am not cute okay." He stated as he leaned down slightly to get a pot. He set it on the stove and thought for a moment about what else he needed. "How about I do it this time because if you mess something up it will make the entire meal taste bad." Connor chuckled. He wanted to get the Miso from the fridge but Jas had him stationary. "I need to get the Miso from the fridge kitty."
Has rolled his eyes with a smirk "fine, and yes, you are. Among a few other things but i'll stop distracting you, for now." He let Connor go for a moment, shifted to a cat and jumped up onto the counter then Connor's shoulders, tail flicking his cheek as he settled down and watched him gather more ingrdients. He purred in content as he watched Connor begin to prepare the meal, stomach already grumbling with hunger
"Stop that." he wined. He hand were delicately mixing the ingredients. He set the new liquid that he made, to boil. He left that there setting a metal timer. He started to cut up Bamboo and another vegetable that gave it the tug the dish needed to make it tastes so good. He felt the vibration on Jas's stomach smiling a little bit. "You sure are hungry. How about you grab a snack for now. It's not like you're doing anything. Unless you want to help me cut the meat and vegetables." Connor reach over to the meat that he pulled out of the freezer. He had left it out to began to soften. He touched it and nodded to himself. He started to cut it slowly and precisely.
Jas gave a little purr and sniffed at the various ingredients Connor had set out, finding them all intriguing. He glanced over at Connor and gave a lock on the cheek before gracefully jumping off and shifting back to normal. He rolled up his sleeves and started cutting the vegetables. He tried his best to make everything even but a few came out wonky and a bit too large. "How's this?" He asked, watching as Connor cut the meat
Connor looked over and tried to hold in a laugh. "You're doing better than I thought you were. I'll just them if I need to just keep cutting kitty." He kissed his cheek lovingly as he went back to cutting the mean. He hummed "Seven Nation Army" while he was doing so. He would nod his head lightly to the music playing inside his head. "Once the meat was cut he smiled before reaching under to get a pan. He put a bit of oil and seasoning on the chicken. His were not a sticky wet mess and he mixed the bits of chicken in. He made sure the stove was on under the pan before laying the meat on top. "That should do it. How are you making out over here?" He moved closer to Jas looking over at his handiwork.
"oh? And how badly did you originally think I was, love?" He asked with a grin, gently poking Connor's side with his free hand. He leaned into the gentle kiss, finding it adorable as Conner danced around to his own music. "You're too cute for your own good, you know that, right?" He murmured, eventually going back to cutting up the rest of the veggies for the ramen. "Good, I think, some if it is a bit wonky but not too bad." He replied, pressing a kiss to Connor's brow
Connor flinches when he felt a poke in his side only letting out a quiet giggle. "I thought you would've been way worse." he squeezed his eyes shut when Jas kissed his features. He analyzed the food he cut up. "It doesn't look awful…" he critiqued. "If it's really a problem I'll cut it into smaller pieces. We put these in at the end. "I appreciate you calling me cute, but I'm really not. I'm clumsy, I don't know when to shut up and stop talking, and I always say the wrong things at the wrong time," he admitted. "Sorry…" Connor went back to work going on to making the noddle portion.
"I'll take not awfully." Jas replied with satisfied grin, finishing off the list bit of his chopping and handing Connor the board. His eyes softened as Connor started to ramble, shaking his head slightly and gently cupping Connor's Chun between his pointed finger and thumb, forcing him to look at him. "You're right. You're far more than cute."he leaned in close "you're adorably clumsy. I love it when when you don't stop talking. And even when you think you've said too much, you always say the right things, even if it's not something I want to hear." He pressed a tender kiss to his lips, backing him against the counter away from the stove and pressing their bodies close together. "Don't you dare be sorry for being yourself, my heart. I love you exactly the way you are. Every flaw you may have is a perfection to me."
Connor was left speechless from the kiss, his word, his actions all of it. His heart was beating fast than it was before. Connor's breathing was out of sync while his eyes were staring right into Jas's. For some reason, he couldn't bring himself to look away. His hands were planted on Jas's chest while he made a deep gulp sound. His eyes kept shifting from his lips to his eyes. He felt shameful when he did something like that subconsciously. "I-I…um.." he tried to speak but he couldn't find the words. Instead, he just looked away at the miso soup. "You're so embarrassing when you say things like that." he mumbled.
"Im not the one embarrassed a, dearest creature?" He shrugged, stealing one more kiss from Connor before taking a step back so that they could finally finish dinner. "The only reason you are embarrassed is because I'm right." He gave a little wink and smirk and waved his hand at the veggies. "So where does this go?" He asked, taking a peek into the pot of boiling water. "Here? Or is this for the noodles?" He asked, taking a sniff and wrinkled his nose at the aromatic smells that drifted up from the pot
"I-It's for the noddles…" he tried to open the pack with steady hands but struggled slightly. Once he finally got it open he poured the noodles into the pot making a slight sizzling sound. He started to stir the noodles and after a while letting it sit so it could really soak up the flavor. "You're wrong by the way…" he mumbled. He was much too distracted with Jas here. He had to make sure the food didn't burn but Jas making all these comments and flirtatious remarks, caused him to be less cautious than he usually was. He hated it and loved it at the same time.
Jas sighed softly and set down the chopped veggies within reach. He gently wrapped his arms around Connor's form and rested his head against his shoulder. "I'm not." He insisted softly. "How long have we've known each other? I've seen the best and worsts of you, my love. And not once would I have ever turned my back on you. Even the life I was with Winston, if you really needed me we would have come." He pressed a gentle kiss to his temple. "I love you Connor." He let got after a few minutes and started finding bowls and spoons to see the table with
"I…" He stirred the noodles a little more before turning off the stove. "I love you too…" he mumbled the last part under his breath hoping Jas wouldn't hear it. He powered out the ramen into two separate bowls before he put veggies and seasoned things in the bowl. "Do-Do you want an egg to go with that?" He moved away from the table and rinsed the pot, cleaning up a bit before he walked back over to the table. "Or spice or anything?" Connor tried changing the subject.
Has glanced up, ears flicking to the sound of Connor's voice. "The egg is fine, no extra spice." He replied, wrickling his nose at even the mere thought if anything spicy. "He settled into one of the chairs, pulling bowl toards him and digging in with a pair of chopsticks, too impatient to wait for the egg. His eyes widened at how good the food tasted, always surprised whenever he tasted Connor's food "this is great love, and you made it look so easy." He curled up comfortably in his seat, bowl in hand as he contently slurped at the noodles and drank the warm broth.
Connor hummed. "Sometimes you eat like an animal you know that. I find it cute when you act like this." Connor took the fork from the bowl and started to eat the noodles like a normal person. He brought the noodles up to his lips blowing on them first before eating them. His stomach growled wanting more as soon as it entered his stomach. Even sometimes Connor was amazed by his own food. "This is amazing though. You helped don't forget that."
Jas covered a laugh as he chewed through another bite of noodles and meat. "Hush, I am not eating like an animal, I am simply enjoying your wonderful cooking to the fullest." He argued lightly, slurping up some of the delicious broth. "Yeah but I didn't actually cook anything. Just the prep work. You're the one who actually made this." He replied, finishing off the bowl of soup with a satisfying sigh
"You finished that way too quickly Kitty." He only shook his head finishing half the bowl of ramen. "In the meantime, since you finished so fast you can help clean up the kitchen. I think that's fair." He Connor gave a soft laugh before he continued eating. "If you want you can look and see if there are enough for seconds or go take a shower, either one works." Connor had his free hand pretending to play the piano, going over songs he memorized and some he was still learning.
