Ezra took one last glance at Lydial's beautiful face before flopping on to the bunk and pulling out his flute. He played it quietly as he thought. His heart and mind raced. Going back and forth,
"I just met her, it's too soon."
"But she's so wonderful and you've spent like a solid hour and a half with her."
"I don't know her that well"
"Sure you do."
"It's not mutual."
"How do you know that?"
And so on in his head until he fell asleep with his flute held close to him.

She put away the sketchpad again, along with everything else. She sighed happily.
(Ezra is such an innocent dude. He looks like the kind of guy you would see in a gym or messing around with some other guys but then he's actually just this flute playing, gardening potato.)
Ezra slept peacefully. He felt a little unsteady and unsure but the rhythm of wheels against the road easied him to sleep.
