"Hmm?" Joey looked up at Sol curiously. "Yeah, I suppose so. What kinda surprise?" He asked, a smile toying at the corners of his mouth.
"Hmm?" Joey looked up at Sol curiously. "Yeah, I suppose so. What kinda surprise?" He asked, a smile toying at the corners of his mouth.
“A good one,” Sol promised, grinning. “Dress warm and I’ll pick you up at your apartment at eight, okay?”
Joey grinned and nodded, seeming excited, though still a bit bewildered. "Okay! I can do that! Anything else I should know or do to prepare?"
“Nope! I’ve got it covered, just bring your cute self,” Sol replied, his excitement evident.
Joey flushed again and nodded, still smiling. "O-Okay, um… will do. Are we bringing anybody else, or just us?"
Sol paused a moment, mentally debating. Maybe Joey wanted some space. “Oh, um, whichever you prefer,” he replied. “You can invite someone else if you’d like.”
"Well, I don't need to… just wasn't sure if it was like, a group thing. You know, if you wanted to invite your friends or something." He shrugged a bit. "I still don't really know them. I was barely conscious the last time I saw them."
“I can see if they’re free if you’d like to get to know them.” He was slightly disappointed, as his plans would probably have to change a bit, but he wanted whatever Joey did.
"If you want it to just be the two of us, that's totally okay, though!" Joey insisted, noticing that Sol looked a bit disappointed. "I'm happy to meet them another time. We've only known each other a couple days, after all."
“You sure? I really don’t mind,” Sol said, though he was somewhat relieved. If Joey said yes to just hanging out with him, would it be a date? Should he ask? Stars, he hadn’t been on a date in a while, but he didn’t want to push this friendship they were forming.
"I'm sure, yeah. I'm happy to go wherever it is with just you if that's what you want." He flushed a bit harder and looked away, running his fingers through his hair. "Totally fine with it."
Sol smiled, heart racing. Joey was okay with it. Joey was blushing. That was a good sign, right?Granted, he had blushed a lot before, too. Maybe it didn’t mean anything.
“Great! So eight, then?”
"Yeah, eight. How long can you stay?" Joey asked softly, fidgeting nervously with his hands. "Here, I mean. Before you gotta go again."
“As long as you’ll have me,” Sol answered with a smile. “It won’t take me long to get the surprise ready.”
Joey nodded a bit and smiled again. "Okay! U-Um… what do you wanna do while you're here, then? I've still gotta work for a few hours."
“I could help shelve,” he offered. “Or anything else you need help with.”
"Sure, if you want to." Joey hesitated before turning to resume his work, standing on a stool so that he could reach the shelves.
Sol nodded and grabbed a few books off the cart, going to shelve them. “Where are the autobiographies now?”
"Next aisle." Joey replied softly, getting into a sort of trance as he organized the books on their proper shelves.

Sol pulled up in front of Joey’s apartment building at eight.
hey! just got here
I'll be there in just a sec!
Joey came outside in sweatpants, a fluffy coat, and a beanie. "Is this warm enough for wherever we're going?" He asked.
Sol smiled when he saw Joey. “Yeah, that’s perfect,” he said. “You ready to go?”
"Mhmm!" Joey climbed onto the back of the bike and held tightly to Sol. "I'm ready!"
Sol grinned and took off, heading towards the edge of of the city. It would have taken a while, but his bike was fast (maybe magically enhanced, who's to say?) and he knew a few shortcuts.
Joey hid his face during the journey, obviously nervous at the speed. "When are you gonna tell me where you're taking me?" He asked curiously after a while.
“We’re almost there,” Sol replied, raising his voice to be heard over the wind. “My sister owns some property on the edge of town.”
"Oh, really? What's on the property?" He asked, confused. He looked up a bit so he could try and figure out where he was.
“Not a lot, just a house and a bunch of trees. We go there when we need an escape from the city,” he answered. “Oh, her dog lives out here, too. His name’s Aster.”
"Ooh, doggie! Why did I need to dress warm, though?" He asked, resting his head on Sol's shoulder.
“My plan involves being outside, but I’m not saying anything else until we get there,” Sol laughed.
