"Oh… well, they have regular books, too. Do you like to read?" He asked curiously, returning to Marin's arms. "I think it's nice…"

Marin wrapped their arms around Kit as he came back, nodding some.
"It is something I enjoy," the mage admitted. "Especially when it is just Willow and I traveling."

Kit nodded a bit, holding a book close to his chest as he huddled up against Marin. "Mhmm… should we check out now?" He asked softly.

"Yes, that sounds like a good idea to me." Marin moved to the side, calling Willow down to join them. She settled down on Kit's hair, a silent giggle coming out.

Kit looked up at Willow curiously, holding one finger up to her as he clutched the book to his chest with the other hand. He carefully set the book on the counter when they reached it and pulled some coins out of a little pouch in his pocket.

Willow looked at Kit's finger a moment, touching the tip of it with her hand. She smiled, moving to pull the child's finger close into a hug.
Marin watched as Kit and Willow interacted, and as the boy put the coins down.
"This book is going to help a lot," the mage noted, smiling some.

Kit smiled gently up at Willow, giggling a bit. He seemed to be in pretty good spirits. When Marin addressed him, he looked back up at them and nodded. "Yeah, it should… the books here are usually pretty good." He thanked the shopkeeper and picked up the book to hold onto again.

Marin thanked the shopkeeper as well, moving to walk out of the shop again. Willow smiled back at Kit, settling down into his hair with a small trill. The mage watched, tucking Kit close to their chest.

Kit trilled softly as well, curling his tail around Marin's arm. "Where do you wanna go now?" He asked. "We could return to the inn for now if you're wanting to resume traveling tomorrow."

"I think back to the inn is a good idea for now. We'll start out in the morning." Marin smiled some, walking back to the building with Kit in their arms. They hummed some, holding Kit close.

Kit yawned a bit and looked down at the book in his small hands, examining it curiously, running his fingers over its cover. It obviously fascinated him. This one big book held information that might help him learn magic.

Marin watched Kit as the boy looked at the book, smiling some. They stepped into their room, moving to sit down on the bed.
"Want to look through it together?" They offered.

Kit nodded a bit and paused for a moment before opening the book. It was written in the fae language primarily, but the translations in English were below each paragraph. He hummed softly as he read through a page, trying to figure it out.

Marin looked over the book with Kit, humming softly. They were glad for the English translations, looking over it. They weren't very familiar with water magic, but they could make it work.
"How are you doing with this?" Marin asked, hugging Kit close.

"Ah… I'm not sure I quite understand it." Kit flushed a bit and smiled sheepishly, tousling the hair on the back of his head with one hand. "Some of it makes sense, but a lot of it's pretty confusing…"

"That's to be expected," Marin said. They smiled, looking down at the book with a small hum, nodding some.
"We'll start at the very beginning, okay?"

Kit nodded, moving the book more to where both of them could see it. "What does all of this mean?" He asked, pointing to a picture that appeared to be of someone drawing water out of the air to use.

Marin hummed as they thought, leaning a bit closer to examine the picture.
"It looks like the technique to summon water," they explained, pointing, "See the hand motion the image is highlighting?

"Ah… I think so?" Kit examined the picture more closely, still seeming confused. He tried to mimic the hand motion, but nothing happened. "Hm…"

"Here, why don't we work on some focusing techniques? So it'll be easier to get it to work." Marin hummed some, holding their hand out.

"Okay…" Kit mimicked Marin as well as he could, although he still seemed very confused. "Am I doing it right?" He asked.

Marin chuckled softly, moving to take Kit's hand in theirs as they had originally intended.
"Here, close your eyes. We're going to meditate for a bit, okay?"

"Oh… okay." Kit held onto Marin's hand, looking up at them for further instruction. "How do I do that?"

Marin shifted Kit in their lap, their chest to his back.
"We're going to take a deep breath," Marin instructed softly, "And try to clear our minds. That means no thinking about things, okay?"

"Okay…" Kit closed his eyes and fidgeted a bit with his hands, trying to do as he was told, but struggling to clear his mind. He couldn't keep himself from wondering if he was doing it right, or mentally yelling at himself to stop thinking.

Marin felt Kit struggling, holding the boy close.
"Focus on your breathing," they offered. "Breath in, breath out… focus on what it feels like."

Kit nodded a bit and obeyed, focusing his attention on his breathing. After a couple of minutes, he started fidgeting again, not really sure what to do. "How does this help with magic…?" He asked in a whisper.

"To learn magic like this," Marin explained, one eye opening to look down at the boy in their lap. "You need to be able to focus on one thing at a time, and put all your energy into it."

"Oh… okay…" Kit was quiet for another few seconds. "I-I don't really know what I'm supposed to be focusing on, though. We're not really… you know… doing anything…"

"We're doing plenty of things," Marin pointed out. "We're breathing, and sitting, and our chests our moving. We're talking, and thinking, and existing."
