“Well the fact that you tried to hide it just makes me feel like you’re going to do something to it.” He said with a small shrug.
“Well the fact that you tried to hide it just makes me feel like you’re going to do something to it.” He said with a small shrug.
"And if I have?" Astral didn't confirm whether he had or not, but he totally had. She was currently under the table, stuck in one of the glass boxes. He'd filled it with water, turning her into her human form to only chain her down by the throat and letting her drown over and over.
“Well I’m mostly just disappointed you think I’d be tricked that easily.” He said, his eyes doing a quick scan of the room in an attempt to find her. “Hasn’t she gone through enough today?”
Astral rolled his eyes, dropping the current soul into the bucket.
"And? So what of it?" He gave no hint as to where the girl was, continuing with his work.
“Just saying, that type of stuff really doesn’t make me think that you want to be better.” Emile said.
Astral paused at that, scalpel held above the soul under his finger. He looked up, then sighed.
"I…"
“Just let me take her for the rest of the day so she can get some rest.” He persuaded, hoping that the god would cave.
"Fine." Astral reached under the table, undoing the girl's chain and pulling her out of the water. He offered the soaking wet girl to Emile without another word.
“Thank you.” He said, taking the girl from him carefully.
((what size is she rn just for context))
(Think one of those kid barbie dolls, like five-six inches)
The girl curled up in Emile's hand, coughing water up violently as she shook. Astral turned away, back to his work.
((okay cool thanks))
Emile turned and left the workroom, not offering any reassurances to the girl until after they were far enough away from Astral. “It’s alright now, I’ve got you.”
The little girl curled up tighter when she managed to stop coughing, still trembling like a leaf. She was completely soaked, her simple white dress weighing down on her. Everything hurt…
Emile held her gently, walking through the palace until he could find somewhere where they wouldn’t be bothered. He finally stopped, seeming satisfied with the spot he’d chosen, and sat down on the floor.
The girl started to cry softly when Emile sat down, hands going to her head. She couldn't open her eyes, still so scared. She hadn't been able to move in a long time, and she'd forgotten just how horrible Astral could be to her.
“Shhhh it’s okay dear, I’ve got you. I’m sorry for bringing more attention to you by trying to get him to fix you.” He apologized softly.
The girl was still crying, but she did manage to look up at Emile after a bit. She was cowering still. She didn't trust him anymore, not fully.
Emile offered her a gentle smile, not making any moves that might accidentally upset her.
The girl did her best to stifle her crying by now, rubbing harshly at her eyes. Astral didn't like it when she made sounds, after all…
“It’s okay, you can keep crying if you need to.” He reassured, knowing how hard it must’ve been for her not to be allowed to.
Hesitating, the girl curled up a bit more in Emile's palm. She started to cry again, but it was softer. Tears streaked down her cheeks, head tucked against her knees. She just wanted to be safe for once…
Emile let her work through it, giving her as much time as she needed.
Eventually, the girl did actually begin to calm. She didn't sit up, closing her eyes. She was exhausted, from all of this.
“It’s okay, you can rest.” He said quietly, holding her close.
The girl looked up for just a moment, nodding faintly. Why couldn't she have this all the time? Why did Astral hate her so much..?
“Just go ahead and relax, I can keep you safe for now.” He said quietly.
With a nod, the girl closed her eyes one more time. It wasn't long before she passed out, shivering from the cold instead of her fear.
Emile held her close in an attempt to keep her warm while she slept.
Astral didn't come out of the workroom for some time, and the girl seemed to be sleeping well enough. More likely than not she just passed out.
Emile was glad that at least for now she wasn’t getting hurt. He couldn’t protect her anymore after today though.
Who knew, Astral might just forget about her if Emile didn't bring her up. Or he'd demand she be handed over for proper punishment. It was a coin toss, really.
